Unusually late,negative tests and very very very light bleeding

Hi,I'm 40,I was on mini pill until Jul? last year and I have very regular periods since,ever 25 days lasting 4/5 days,2 days very heavy.
Last period was almost 3 weeks ago,I have taken many hpt all negative and have had some symptoms, heightened sense of smell,peeing more often.
I had lots of clear discharge the week after period was due and have had bleeding this last week, 3 days just a couple of times when wiped had very dark brown almost black blood and then 2 days of very thick red blood which was so very light a liner was more than suffient.
I have had some cramping,kind of tugging,twisting feeling.
I have spoken with doctor and she said to have blood test which due to have tomorrow.she is concerned its ectopic but said regardless if it is I should be showing as pregnant. She did test - negative and internal said looked ok!?
Has anyone else experienced symptoms like these? Is it pregnancy or pre menopause?
I'm hoping bloods will show something as not knowing what's going on is so frustrating.

I've not had anything exactly like this but I did have 4 negative test results before finally getting a positive on my 5th (kept going because I just knew I was)! All the best either way :-)

I had a feeling I 'was' as have I 3 children already plus my body felt different.
Anyway had bloods today and negative and told to keep a diary,at least I know its not ectopic as doctor was fearing.
I'm thinking now its start of the menopause and my baby making days are over.

Still no period (10 weeks since last proper bleed)and still negative hpt,now to try get a doctors appointment.
I don't have any signs of pregnancy anymore and don't feel pregnant either. Anyone else experienced this and what was outcome
