I used to smoke but stopped since finding out I was pregnant at 4 weeks.

since then, I have had two after two very stressful sessions at work- six weeks apart. I am now 18 weeks and had a ciggerate (small roll up) after a fight with my mother last night.

reading the metros article on smoking mothers and distressed babies I am now paranoid I have done irreparable damage to the baby

Your baby will absolutely fine from 3 cigs, don't worry about it!

ThereIsIron · 25/03/2015 10:29

Not ideal, but you (and the baby) will be fine.

Oh God, don't panic, stick to your plan to give up, but don't worry about 3 cigarettes, you have nothing at all to worry about. Keep up the good work :)

it's an emotional crutch, has been for 10 years. there was 14 months between my sons so since I stopped in 2011 I did not start up again until 2014 and I was on 10 a day.

I have always been pedantic about not being 'one of those mothers' and I seemysrlf being just that :(

It's ok. You've done really well to basically quit. Quitting is such hard work. Focus on how well you've done so far and try not to get too upset about the blip.

RhiannonElward · 25/03/2015 11:46

Read your post as if it were someone else's, what would you say? You're doing absolutely fine, 3 blips in as many months isn't going to do any harm so stop beating yourself up and be proud of your success instead. You're doing it and it really isn't easy. I'm an ex-smoker so I know how shit it is.
