Friend 30yrs old-1in 589 chance of having a downs.
Nucal tranluscency 2.2mm-this is normal.
Bio chemistry adjust was 1 in 297.

Combine adjust is 1 in 172.(combination of the above 3things)

Can anyone advice my friend on how they have cme up with this figure of 1 in 172 if all the other 3 are so high?
Can anyone explain anything about the test she has been offered for Friday?
She is 12 weeks so the flued is being taken from the placenta.Thanx

eidsvold it loks to me as if you've given more solid, real advice than anyone else on this thread (as has geekgirl)(Eg miscarriage rates following CVS, nasal bones etc) . All this despite the fact that giving information about terminating children like yours (because they're like yours) must be painful to you.

I also think it is very valid to discuss what having a child with DS means. If you're only allowed to say its dreadful because otherwise you might offend people choosing to terminate then I would suggest their decision hasn't been very well thought out and they're laying themselves open to a lot of hurt later.

Agree with your last line as well.

Hope this doesn't stir up stuff- just wanted too offer you some support - as I know this is a topic where you try and post helpful advice even though its often painful for you (if it gets too painful, don't post the advice, let people find it out for themselves as you had to).
