just a little rant - loathing PPI calls when dreading receiving a call from the hospital...

had my 12 week scan last week, all was well, but i am awaiting the results of the various tests. the hospital said they would call in a few working days if there was any bad news; otherwise i should expect a letter in a few weeks with my risk factors.

so i am panicking and glued to the phone, hoping and hoping it doesn't ring, and totally dreading a call (partly because i am a bit old and a bit fat and partly because i am a googleholic who does myself no favours!). I COULD REALLY REALLY REALLY DO WITHOUT NUMEROUS "NO CALLER ID" "CALLER UNKNOWN" and "ANONYMOUS" calls which turn out to be from ppi and ambulance chasing firms, thank you very much indeed! grrr...

any tips for warding off anxiety in this period? or new and creative ways to tell the ppi people to get lost?!

go to TPS website and register your number. They stop those annoying calls within 28 days so by the time baby is due you should have filtered them out.

There are also apps you can add to your mobile to stop those calls. speak to your network provider.

hope that helps. I'm 38+2 but I remember feeling exactly the same way at the beginning and worried every time my phone rang!

If you're getting them on an Android phone, try an app called Mr Number. I get several ppi calls every day, and had to do SOMETHING to deal with them, so I installed this. You can set it up to send certain numbers or kinds of numbers straight to voicemail or to hang up on them. Mine sends all private numbers and all 800 numbers to voicemail. Real callers like hospitals leave messages and I can call back.

Ah thanks ladies, that will help, i will get onto that. Yesterday's panic inducing call was from some moron trying to persuade me to claim for a car accident 3 years ago that never happened, be good to get rid of him!

(Reminds me of the time one of those ambulance chasers called my dad's house and I happened to answer. He insisted there had been a car accident there recently and I insisted there hadn't. He got really quite aggressive and accused me of "concealing" it.

Then he referred to me as mrs noob. I pointed out I was miss noob. He wanted to speak to mrs noob; I advised him she had died a few years ago. There was a pause. Then he actually said.....

"And was that in a car accident?" !!!!!!???!!!!!!!!!!)
