Title says it all
Chased up appt last week said it must be an admin delay so got to late and another thread date through
This morning whilst we were out the post came
It's my scan letter
It's been opened
I was furious... And the I noticed the hospital have the bloody address wrong, think cottage instead of house
We live in a small village where nosy is standard
The cottage residents were clearly opening post and then saw not for them so have popped through door
Now the whole bloody place will know I'm pregnant Shock
I'm a worried about the scan anyway I want to know everything is ok before I tell anyone but especially work where there are performance targets being awarded at the moment ahead of a restructure
They will find out I'm sure
How has a hospital got my address wrong? It's correct at drs and I've had dc at same hospital before so in the system
What should I do?
Emotional and worried means I'm overthinking Hmm

Do you know the exact address it has gone to? If so maybe go to see them and say that you realise they opened your post 'by mistake' (so as not to accuse them of being nosy even though they probably were being) and you would really appreciate it if they could keep the contents of the letter to themselves, say that you are very anxious about your pregnancy and knowing that it is a curtain twitching close knit community you are worried about the news getting around before you know everything is looking OK and you are ready to share it yourself. Hope it doesn't get out, it wouldn't be nice to have it taken out of your hands.

Sorry to hear of this, have you complained to the hospital?
Nosy neighbours aside who shouldn't open your bloody post, the hospital have breached your data protection rights and they should take it seriously. If they don't, complain to the Information Commissioner www.ICO.org.uk

Wishing you well x

Your neighbours shouldn't have opened your post, presumably it was addressed to you?! I wouldn't worry too much about some busybodies knowing, they'll see your bump soon enough :-)

My hospital makes patients write the scan results envelope on the scan date, presumably to avoid being blamed for errors...

Sleepyfergus · 28/03/2015 10:52

Perhaps they had a batch of envelopes, opened it and then realised it wasn't for them. Perhaps don't be too quick to judge!

Agree though that you need to speak to the hosp and ensure your address is correct in the system. When I was preg, my maternity folders had a couple of sheets of address labels that had been pre-printed. Perhaps your notes have these but when you chased up the appt, the handwrite it quickly to get it out and made a mistake. It happens. It shouldn't of course, but that's life.

I wouldn't stress too much over it. Hope your scan goes well.

Sleepyfergus · 28/03/2015 10:54

Re my first paragraph, I meant perhaps the other household opened the envelope without even looking at the address then only realised it wasn't for them when they read it. I've done it lulu self.
