Hi there, I'm 38wks pregnant and my toddler has come out with the spots yesterday. I have spoken to the dr over the phone who just said that chances are he'll no longer be infectious by the time I go into labour. I was hoping no.2 would arrive ASAP now I'm hoping he stays put as long as possible! Has anyone had experience of what happens if I did go into labour now? Would I be isolated from ds1 till he's no longer infectious? To make things a little more complicated, my DH has never had CP so now I'm worried he's caught it but not showing the symptoms yet. If he does have it (it can have a long incubation period) i guess he cany be there during labour? As I had it when I was little, I'm assuming I'm immune but dr told me to speak to the mw tomorrow. This pregnacy has not be straight forward :( any advise?!

This happened to a friend of mine recently. She was advised baby would be immune, but he came out with cp ten days after birth. Toddler visited mum in the hospital before he came out in spots & that was who baby got it from. (Toddler got it from my son.) It was a mild strain & baby was ok. It will mean baby is likely to get it again at nursery in the future.

Oh & it's a 10 day incubation period.

Oh & (sorry, baby brain!) basically it's less contagious after 5 days from when the first spot developed.

If your breastfeeding won't you pass on some immunity? My DD may have been exposed and I'm 39 weeks, so if she has it that's what I'm hoping for!
