Is this what a mucus plug looks like? Only 33 weeks but had lots of backache and leg cramps since last night. Can't get hold of midwife.

Just went to the loo and this was sat there (sorry I know it's gross and I didn't ever think I would be putting a photo of a mucus plug on the internet!)

Hmm,not sure, have you had any more than that?doesnt seem to be enough.IIRC a mucous plug should be greener wih possible streaks of blood in it,but hopefully someone more knowledgeable will be along soon.

hellospring · 12/03/2015 11:50

I don't know whether to be horrified or give you a pat on he back for posting this:)

Seriously though, yes, mine looked something like that. At 33 weeks I would try and get hold of the midwife - losing the plug doesn't necessarily mean anything but I would want to be checked.

WayTMIwasalreadytaken · 12/03/2015 11:57

Actually I have posters remorse now, think I might ask HQ to pull this thread Blush

Way before you pull the thread (if that what you want to do) I just wanted to let you know I lost my plug at 31 weeks (confirmed at hospital) and it was much bloodier than this. And there was more of it. Not saying it's not your plug and by all means it nk you should get checked out but I may just be part of it. A friend of mine lost her plug in bits over about 2-3 weeks and than didn't go in labour for a mother 2 1/2 weeks so try not to panic but get hold of midwife and mention it would be my advice.

JacksMummy26 · 12/03/2015 13:10

My plug started to degenerate over a number of weeks and started off like this, gradually getting more bloody the closer to due date I got.

mumxof3x · 12/03/2015 13:13

That is part of the plug, every womans is different some peoples are clear some peoples are yellowy/green. Im 30weeks and mines been coming away for weeks, mines kind of greeny (has been in my last 2 babys too) the mucus plug actually grows back and regenerates. But sometimes it can be different for one person to another so definitely get checked for changes in the cervix seen as your only 31 weeks, some people can lose this for ages and it just grow back like me, but some people lose it and it can actually indicate something. Its usually more concerning when it has blood in it.

mumxof3x · 12/03/2015 13:18

33weeks* rather

MrsNoggin · 12/03/2015 15:35

Don't pull the thread! This is really useful for other people who have the same kind of question, especially if you find out an answer either way. Think of it as a sacrifice of dignity for science! Grin

And the first bit of mine definitely looked like that with DC1. I didn't lose it second time round as was induced early. I would get it checked out by the midwife, but it might not mean anything dreadful, they can take a while to come out in blibs and blobs.

Number3cometome · 12/03/2015 15:51

Doesn't look like mine - mine looked like a strawberry fruit corner yoghurt mixed together and there was more.

Lemondrizzletwunt · 12/03/2015 17:18

Don't pull the thread, this is really interesting and useful! Am 5wks preg and am watching with horror and fascination

Grin
ihatelego · 12/03/2015 17:29

i had the exact same thing last weekend at 33 weeks, mine was clear too and very similar, apparently labour can still be weeks away and if you have no other labour symptoms or anything then you shouldn't worry about it

FourAndDone · 12/03/2015 17:41

Mine was just like that. Although labour didn't start for weeks....

WayTMIwasalreadytaken · 12/03/2015 17:45

Just back from the hospital. Contracting on the monitor lots of backache but no dilation and a negative Actum Partus test.

So no answers at all really Grin

I won't pull the thread but will continue checking I'm name changed before posting!!

Mine was like that at 33+4, I was in early labour ds popped out (like it was that easy) at 34+1! Shock Smile

Irelephant · 12/03/2015 20:13

Mine looked like that I had DD at 30 weeks it was bigger and more bloody when I had DD1 at 40 weeks. It can rejuvenate itself or so I was told by the midwive.

Bigbadgeorge · 12/03/2015 21:58

Definitely don't pull thread! Ive found it helpful. I've been losing bits like that every day for the last few days. After consulting Dr Google, I decided no to worry (this included looking at the 'images' results, lot worse than yours!)

TeaandHobnobs · 13/03/2015 09:02

I've just started to lose mine today at 40 weeks, and it looks like yours, OP (although there hasn't been much of it so far).
