Magnesium supplement for morning sickness

In my desperation to ease my sickness which I feel is getting worse (15+3) I came across some articles about how low magnesium can contribute to morning sickness. Anyone know anything about this or tried a supplement? I notice that my prenatal vitamins only have a small amount and i'm wondering if it's worth taking an extra supplement. Any advice welcome.

I've been putting Epsom salts (magnesium sulphate) in my bath. Apparently you can absorb it through your skin. No idea if there is anything in it, but had hyperemesis with pg1 and this pregnancy have just had normal morning sickness. Also took B6 for first few months.

I got it from local pharmacy. Was a tenner for giant 2kg box.

Interesting, I take a Cal-Mag supplement (I get bad muscle cramps in my feet, nothing to do with pregnancy) and though I feel nauseous I have not thrown up (so far, fx!).

scatterbrained do you take that as well as a prenatal vitamin and were you told you needed it?

Hi corn berry, might be something in it - I was eating handfuls of brasil nuts every day to keep the sickness at bay (nausea 9-13 weeks then the vomiting kicked in, just to go against the books!). Didn't really think about magnesium at time, it was just trial and error what stopped the sickness (still had nausea, but eating cheese and nuts stopped me being sick for some reason. Grazing helped too - never went for more than an hour without snack.) 21w and nausea easing off at last :)

Hope you're feeling better soon x

cornberry no, just on folic acid right now, haven't seen MW yet. Will see her on Tuesday so will see what she says about it.

Hi

I have been taking magnesium supplement pre-pregancy due to having weather-related headaches.

I continued during pregancy as the prenatal vitamins had only small dose of magnesium. Didnt take it everyday, but 3-4 days per week. I didnt have problem with sickness, i was nauseated over certain things but it was ok, not bad at all.
