Hello,

I just got a first (faint) positive test last week and have been suffering from period type pains/cramps and heavy swollen feeling stomach for the last few days. Is this normal so early in pregnancy?

Thanks in advance for any help!

Yes, I had that, get used to loads of random pains, then you might get the joy of lightening crotch later on.

Thanks. I was getting a bit worried as didn't know what was normal, especially this early on. Lightening crotch sounds like something to look forward to.....lol Shock

Early cramps are perfectly normal, I'm 8 weeks now but I remember when I found out (before my period was late) I had period-style cramps and was convinced my period was going to arrive and I'd misread all 17 hpts I'd taken. Congratulations too btw!

Thank you, it still doesn't seem real (apart from these pains!). That's exactly how I feel, like I'm about to start my period. Have had cramps every day for the last few days. Congratulations too you too!

Thanks Anna, and try not to worry, you'll have plenty of symptoms soon enough! I was desperate just to feel pregnant, but having felt sick and exhausted for a fortnight now I'm eating my words haha.

Yeah, dw, I started with period pains around the time I was expecting my period, and I'm still getting them (every single day) 2 weeks later.

Hi OP - you and I are probably clocking on the exact same calendar hehe, I too am 4 weeks something like 4 weeks 4 days, so in the fifth week currently.

Just to say - period like cramps are THE only real symptom I have actually had apart from breathlessness now and fatigue every early on. I cramped royally bad like period was literally here from 10 DPO (when I got the bfp) right till a few days ago. Tummy was swollen ish too, like before a period.

Since the last few days cramping has subsided and will only hit after a sudden movement or sudden activity and then they cross cross like period cramps and settle down in a minute or so.

Take it easy, clearly it's normal!

I think I am roughly 4 weeks 4 days too. It's all new to me so had no idea if this was normal but clearly it can be...phew. Thank you for your reassurance and congrats!

I'm another 4+4er, and have been having cramps on and off, especially on the right hand side. I think it's just everything bedding in and starting to stretch, but obvs if it gets painful then let your GP know.

Wishing you a h&h 9 months!

I'm 9+4 and I still get these all the time. Nothing painful as such but lots of dull aching.
