Frimley Park or Royal Berks?

I'm due to move to Wokingham and thought I'd need to get referred to the Royal Berks for the rest of my twin pregnancy. When I spoke to the lead midwife she said I could actually choose to go there or Frimley says I would be equidistant from both. Does anyone have any experience of either of these maternity units? I'll be consultant led care and I know Frimley has a new unit but am not daft enough to think shiny new=better centre.

I also had the choice of both- I am a few miles south of Wokingham.
I chose Frimely for a number of reasons with my DD and am using them again this pregnancy.

RBH doesn't have a wonderful rep and getting there in reading is a nightmare. I don't know too much about the maternity side which may be fine.

Frimley has a fantastic rep- got first outstanding award last year. The staff I can't fault in any way and I have found them to be nothing short of fantastic !
I had a rough labour and induction with DD and the staff were truely amazing. Also, the maternity unit has just all been re done so Is nice and new ( not that really matters).
They were helpful, in time, caring and supportive. ( even took dd off a few times to let me sleep!).

It's a personal choice and RBH maybe just as good but if u choose Frimley, be assured you will be very well looked after.

I had my baby with RBH in September and couldn't fault the care, it was excellent. However, traffic in Reading can be a nightmare to get to the hospital, parking is terrible, and RBH were on divert to other hospitals very frequently (Frimley being one of them) in August / September last year, due to understaffing. They've since been pulling midwives in from the community to maintain patient/staffing levels. A lot can change in 6 months but in your position I'd choose Frimley.

Hi I've had 2 babies at FPH and couldn't fault it. They have also just updated their suites etc so thats nice. Reading looks its stuck in the 80s compared.

I'm soon to give birth at FPH - my choices were Wexham, RBH or FPH. I love FPH - I was born there myself, and they are a very good hospital. The antenatal clinics are incredibly busy though, I think they have a lot of women from "out of area" on their books.
Still, they have looked after me well (I was under consultant care for much of this pregnancy as DS was born at 32 weeks) - it has been a bit fiddly switching between them and my community midwife, but we have managed (Frimley have now taken over Heatherwood and Wexham, but things aren't fully joined up yet)

Most of the mums I know had their baby's at Royal Berks. I haven't heard a bad word yet.

I've used their paediatric services and have found them to be excellent.

Thanks ladies. I've looked at travel time and with no traffic Frimley is twice as far as RBH and I can't see very much on their website about twin care. Think I'll give them a call and see what service they provide and what level their NICU is (not that I want to experience it but I know it's a possibility). I've heard RBH also closes regularly due to being full and FPH is one of the places where you may get sent to so may as well investigate it for that reason as well.

FPH is a Level 2 NICU, I believe? 27 weeks onwards

Based on my family's history with both hospitals (1 sister had her DD at RBH and other had her DS at FPH) I would say to go with FPH. RBH were not very helpful and my poor DSis ended up giving birth in the corridor!! Other DSis had a really good experience at FPH and couldn't fault the staff. Both came from Binfield and both happened at around 3am! I've just got my BFP and am hoping to use FPH too
