Freaking out: sudden abdominal pain

I am 4-5 weeks and just had an excruciating pain in my abdomen. So bad I was doubled over. Is this normal? I'm freaking out that it could be a miscarriage!!! Someone mentioned implantation pain - is it normal for it to be this bad?

Excruciating pain is not normal. You need to get yourself checked over ASAP.

Oh no :-(

Hopefully it's nothing, and I don't want you to panic but please get yourself checked out. Severe abdominal pain can be a sign of ectopic pregnancy which is very dangerous and needs urgent attention.

I am calling NHS, thank you x

Oh dear, good luck OP, hopefully it's just nothing but it's definitely sensible to be getting yourself checked out.

Good luck, I hope all is OK xx

Spoke to a lovely nurse who said she thinks it's ok. She said if it was ectopic pain would be getting worse and if it was a miscarriage I would have bled. She said she thinks it's implantation but she did say it's such early days and I could still miscarry. She said it's important to relax Xx

I had excruciating abdominal pain before I realised I was pregnant. Really, really agonising. I think it was probably implantation. I took paracetamol and it subsided. Fingers crossed that's what it is for you.

Thank you confusedandemployed :-)

I had this! had a scan, it was all fine, docs said "sometimes that happens".

I got horrible crippling pain in the early weeks of all 3 of my pregnancies, turned out to be a bad case of diarrhoea both times.
Not uncommon in early preggo.
So I guess I'm suggesting it could also be an upset tummy.

Congrats btw.

I had this at 5+2, like the worst period pain ever, made me want to be sick! Was saying to DH I can't have a baby if this hurts too much! It went away after half an hour and have had nothing in the last 6 weeks. Midwife friend said same thing re ectopic and that it was probably the placenta implanting. All was well at 8 week private scan.
