If you bled in first pregnancy, did you bleed again with your second?

I'm 5 weeks pregnant. Last time round I had bleeding from 6 weeks on and off for 1st trimester ranging from brown to bright red then another bleed in 2nd trimester.
All of my scans were fine. Cervix was examined after my bleed at 23 weeks and no erosions were spotted.

Tonight when I wiped I noticed pink mucous on the tissue. Now I'm panicking that it could be the start of a miscarriage.
Maybe I'm just prone to bleeding though? I was really hoping I would escape it second time around Sad

Just wondered how those of you that bled with 1st pg fared second time round?

Yes I did, both times, I'm a bleeder I guess!

Sorry, posted too soon. Hope all is ok this time for you too, I know it's scary.

I did both times too. I was even more scared with DS2 as the bleeding was much heavier. All was fine both times though and no issues found. I'm not sure if it was exacerbated in my second pregnancy because of carrying DS2 around and that increasing pressure? My mum bled in her first trimesters too. I really hope that all is ok, try not to panic. I rarely post but felt compelled to with your thread as I know exactly how I felt in your shoes. Do you have an EPU you can go to to get scanned? X

Yes. I had 2 miscarriages followed by 2 healthy pregnancies and had bleeding with them all. Can you ask for an early scan?

Thanks for the replies. Good to know that others have gone on to have healthy pregnancies, though sorry for you losses marmite.

Last time when I started to bleed at 6 weeks I had hcg blood tests and then a scan at the epu at 7 weeks. It was reassuring to see the baby & heartbeat but they couldn't give me any answers as to why I was bleeding. Later in my pregnancy it was suggested that the bleeding could be coming from the placenta which worried me even more.

I guess I'll just sit this out & keep my fingers crossed for now as I doubt there's much they can tell this early.

I experienced pink spotting in second throughout and bleeding up to 16w in this (third) one. It was much heavier this time which was worrying but since the early scan identified the area of bleeding to be outside the womb they didn't seem concerned, despite being unable to provide any reasoning behind it. I'm now 28+6.

If you're worried, ask for an early scan at epu after 6w. There's no harm in getting peace of mind.

Pink spotting now, not looking good Sad
Do you even need to see a gp if miscarry at 5 weeks?

Stopped again overnight & now nothing! Argh! I'd forgotten what an emotional roller coaster this is.

Yes I did both times, the 2nd time was so much bright red blood I felt like I was weeing myself until I looked down and saw red! Both ended in healthy babies, do you have an Early Pregnancy Unit at the hospital?
