Do steroids make the baby grow?

I had an incident of heavy bleeding at 26 weeks pregnant and was taken to hospital where they were worried I was going into labour. I had two doses of steroids 24 hours apart to help the baby's lungs mature if the worst happened.

Luckily I didn't go into labour but this happened on Thursday and my bump is now huge and the baby feels so much bigger moving inside of me. Could the steroids have made him grow faster?

I was wondering this too turquoise, DH said my bump has definitely increased since last week and I'm a week behind you, but was told they were just to mature the lungs. I have a consultant aappointment in the morning so can ask then if that helps?

Hi apple yes ask about it please! My bump is literally so much bigger now. My mam hadn't seen me since Saturday and she couldn't believe how much bigger it was.

I don't think they do. I also had steroids after a heavy bleed (23 wks), then noticed baby was very active and bump bigger over the next few days. But I think it was just a coincidence. DD was very tiny when she was born a few weeks later.

2 steroid injection shouldn't make the baby grow that rapidly, I've had them and didn't make a diff, tho I was told if I went on a 6 week course of steroids (for an unpregnancy related illness) then they would have an effect on baby's size as its a high dose over a longer period of time

Probably just well times with a growth spurt then, will ask more about the steroids anyway. Was a bit shell shocked last week so didn't ask anything
