Weight gain - 17 weeks

Morning ladies, I decided to weigh myself this morning and I am absolutely horrified. Pre-pregnancy I was 10st 12lb and I size 10.

I am 17+2 today, weighed myself and I am 12st 5lb!!

I feel mortified with myself for doing this.

This is DC3, with DC1 I put on 3 stone, with DC2 4 stone (by the end I was very big and uncomfortable)

Yesterday I decided I need to do away with the fatty bad food / takeaways, instead I had toast and fruit salad for breakfast, soup for lunch and a normal sized dinner. I was so hungry though!!

I feel so ashamed of myself, 1st 7lb on at 17 weeks is ridiculous Sad

This is my bump (last week)

Any advise greatly appreciated!

I want to, I want to drink chocolate milkshake from mcdonalds and stuff my face with bacon sarnies, but I know the pre-eclampsia will get me.

Stupid blood pressure!!

I wouldn't worry number. I seem to put loads on at the start, but then it seems to even out. I think I had put on about a stone by 12 weeks with DD1 but only put on 2stone overall. I've put on 13lbs so far (dared to weigh myself this morning!) at 18 weeks, and as you know my bump is huge! I'm still eating the same as I was, not exercising quite as vigorously (netball and bumps don't go!) but I am still walking lots and doing a pregnancy fitness dvd. I'm just not going to stress about it. Smile

And now you've made me want a McDonald's chocolate milkshake! Grin

I'm about 15 weeks and I've gained 5 kilos... On top of the three I gained during the previous pregnancy and miscarriage. The exhaustion is utterly killing me - I used to cycle to work every day, but after a bad accident at 6 weeks that coincided with bleeding and got me taken to hospital for emergency scan, I've barely had any exercise at all. I feel like vomiting every time I get out of breath, which happens with any exertion. I think I'm just going to have to force myself to cycle anyways if I don't want to end up a huge flabby mess.

I get badly out of breath, but thought that was my BP tablets?

It's horrible when you are so used to being fit!

Pregnancy DVD sounds right up my street.

Number I was a bit sceptical whether it would be hard enough (I'm used to doing the insanity workouts!) but I bought Erin O'Briens prenatal fitness fix as the reviews seem to suggest it was ok and I found it all right. I could cope with it at the moment fairly easily (although it does make your muscles ache the next day!) but I can see it will get trickier the further along you get!

gaggiagirl · 11/02/2015 12:09

At what points does the midwife weigh you? My last pregnancy I remember being weighed at booking in and that was it.
I think its unfair to measure bmi while you are pregnant.

Naturegirl82 · 11/02/2015 12:18

I've not been weighed at all in this pregnancy, and don't remember being weighed in the last one either. Might be because I use a non-nhs service though.

BMI is a rubbish measure whenever it is used! I'm slim but athletic and have always weighed a lot more than I look so my bmi has always been quite high. Even when I have been a size 6/8 back in the day!

Number3cometome · 11/02/2015 13:45

I was weighed at book in and again when I had my NT bloods

I was meant to be weighed at booking but they forgot so I was actually weighed at my scan now im thinking about it! so I was 12+6 when they weighed me and worked out my bmi!

How I would love to not have to face the scales of shame!
I'm not in the UK and here you are weighed every four weeks! and you have to go and see a nutritionist. Im 11 weeks and so far have put on 0.8kgs. With my first pregnancy I put on 12kgs in total.

fattymcfatfat · 11/02/2015 14:57

50degrees I would be in soo much trouble Blush I wouldnt listen to a nutritionalist.....would just eat what I wanted...hmmm could be the cause of my weight gain in the first place...but when you are pregnant surely you are exempt!

StarSpotter · 11/02/2015 15:06

Don't panic, I put on 2 stone by 20 weeks, but only gained another half stone for the rest of the pregnancy. My legs were huge too, but it will be water. Mine went down within 48hrs of giving birth.

pinkie1982 · 11/02/2015 16:34

This post made me get on the scales. I've put on 10lbs@ 18w

fattymcfatfat · 11/02/2015 17:47

srarspotter I feel a bit more relaxed now. I dont think I have put on much more since my scan and hopefully a lot if ut is water and my legs deflate a bit afterwards
