17 weeks haven't felt baby move

I am 17 plus 1 with number 2 and I am getting a bit anxious that I haven't felt movement. I have been told by lots of people that you feel it earlier second time and in fact two pregnant friends were discussing that they'd felt their babies at 13 and 14 weeks. I am only worried as I had a miscarriage not so long ago although it was early.

I was very late feeling my daughter because I had an anterior placenta, perhaps it's something simple like that? I must have been 24 weeks x

greenlizard · 08/02/2015 11:47

I had flutterings from week 19 but nothing substantial until about week 24 so I wouldn't worry too much.

Can you ask at midwife appointment or visit Epu if you are worried?

eurochick · 08/02/2015 11:49

I think it is still very early to be feeling movement.

Thanks for your reassurances. I missed my 16 week appointment where the midwife would have listened because DD was so poorly and i couldn't find anyone to sit with her. I've rearranged for this Thursday so hopefully she will be able to reassure me then. Everyone I know claims to have felt so early second time

I would think that as you are a week past your MW appointment she may listen for you. Tell her you are anxious about it.

Good luck

My midwife says she isn't concerned about little to no movement felt up until 25 weeks.

eurochick · 08/02/2015 12:47

Apparently they don't routinely listen for the HB at 16 weeks on the nhs anymore.

Only1scoop · 08/02/2015 12:50

They don't routinely I don't think ....I was 17 weeks and she asked me if I wanted her to have a listen....Hopefully will be the same for Op

Beckahjane · 08/02/2015 12:51

With my first I couldn't feel anything until 27/28 weeks, now that is late. I panicked all the time but heartbeats were always found.

Summerdaydreams · 08/02/2015 19:57

With My second baby I felt first movements at 19 weeks. Also if you have an anterior placenta, movements are often felt later. Hope this helps.

SophieBarringtonWard · 08/02/2015 19:57

Don't worry. I felt movement earliest of all with DC1, a week or two later than that with DC2 (not sure when but I know at 18w I posted on MN worrying about not feeling movement!), and am now pregnant with DC3 and feeling the least movement of all - discovered yesterday at my 20w scan it's because I have an anterior placenta.

Christelle2207 · 10/02/2015 08:08

Ask your mw to listen for you-here they do routinely from 16 weeks.
I didn't feel ds1 till after the 20 week scan. I reckon it's true you feel subsequent babies sooner, have been feeling ds2 since 11 weeks.

BotBotticelli · 10/02/2015 08:57

I am 16+4 with dc2 and haven't felt anything yet either OP.

Didn't feel dc1 until 20 weeks ish though so hoping this little one will start making himself/herself felt in the next coupe of weeks...

slightlyconfused85 · 12/02/2015 19:44

She did the heartbeat for me, beating away very fast with several thudding sounds which she tells me is movement. Very relieved that baby is busy in there and hope to feel it soon! Thanks for all your reassurances
