Isofix Fitting for Car Seat - I need help please!

Purchased our travel system last week with included a car seat. We picked it up yesterday and I'm so happy with it.
Have been recommended the Isofix fitting by everyone including m mothercare. We've been told that the base is around £120 which isn't a problem and we are willing to pay that. However.. I was not told (and only found out myself through doing a little research) that my car ALSO has to have Isofix fittings in already?! What?!!!
It is no where near being a new car which apparently have these Isofix points.
I'm not sure what to do!! Can anyone help?

For reference my car is an 04 model and my car seat is SilverCross 3D Ventura I believe. If this helps!

Hi. Yes, in order to use an isofix base you need to have the corresponding fittings in the car. I think it became a requirement in ,2009 iirc that new cars had to have them, so an older car may well not do. You can use the car seat with a seatbelt instead, but get advice on how to fit it with a seatbelt from where you got it from - I think the seat has to be flat rather than tilted at all but cannot remember the details of this and we are using the isofix system so I'm not au fait with the seatbelt method. Hope this makes sense!

I think you can get the easybase if the car doesn't have isofix, but it still may not fit.

My 04 plate car has the isofix points have you checked to see if yours does? If you look at the back seats between the seat and the back rest they look like square metal hooks

You can have isofix points installed in your car . Halfords do it . You can also buy kits to do it yourself

Ooh, I didn't realise you could get them installed - will be looking into that for dp's car so I don't have to do ALL the driving!

Just Google does (model of my car) have isofix? Or shove your hand down the back seats near where the seat belt buckles are and you should feel little metal d rings.
If it helps, me and Dp both drive 04 cars and we both have isofix that was already installed. Newer cars have to have them legally but they were popular in 04 so yours may have it!

I don't have isofix in my car but I do have a base for my car seat. It's just a belted base rather than an isofix one but it does exactly the same job. Do they make a belted base for your seat?

In older cars they are sometimes buried deeper in the seat, so you'll really have to push your hand right in to feel them.

DH's 53 Honda Jazz has isofix, although on first check we didn't think it did - they are buried much deeper than on my 08 Nissan.

If not though you can either get them installed or use a belted base or just strap seat in each time.

Update - Had a quick check yesterday just before work as I had forgotten, and looks like I do have the Isofix points! I only checked the back passenger side and apparently that's the second best place for the car seat other than the middle? I'm clueless so any more advice would be great! Next is to actually purchase the Isofix base now

We had an isofix base but found it incredibly difficult to swap it between cars, my husband could do it after a lot of fiddling but I couldn't get it to clip in, luckily it also had the 'belt in' function so we used it that way instead.
If you buy it from Mothercare or Babies r us they'll take it to your car and show you how to use it, make sure you have a go at it yourself while you're with them.
