Harmony test - is the FMC still the best place?

Hi there. I've just read this post asking where to have the Harmony test done in London and want to know id anyone can recommend where to have it done. The FMC has been highly rated but this was about a year ago. The cost is far better than other places offering the same test, - sent to the same lab in the US, - but is that a good thing? I'd really appreciate any advice or recommendations as I'm a 5 weeks pregnant with my first child at the age of 42 so even though I'm ecstatic I'm somewhat apprehensive too. Many thanks!

I was recommended this place by a consultant at the private wing at Chelsea westminster hospital. He said that it is "the source" and that it is the best place to have it done. (He was actually putting C&W private care out of business by sending me there). Plus it's cheaper. Was a no-brainier for me.

FMC, I've used them three times over the last 14 years and everytime had been excellent. My harmony test and scans package was worth every penny.

Yes, it definitely the best place. And you also get a very detailed scan, much more detailed

Yes, definitely the best. And you also will get a very detailed scan, much more detailed than anywhere else (except couple of top hospitals - UCH, King's). They have the best price too.
I've just had a viability scan and gave bloods for Harmony there yesterday. It was such a positive experience - I could not stop smiling looking at the screen.

I just went here for harmony and scan - couldn't fault them (apart from slightly frosty receptionist!)

As far as I know wherever you have the Harmony test done, the bloodwork still has to get sent to the same lab in the US. So the test itself is the same wherever you get it. Obviously the accompanying scans, support etc are a different matter.

The FMC are amazing. I have had lots of scans and the Harmony test there over three pregnancies and wouldn't go anywhere else. I sadly had terrible news at a scan in my first pregnancy and the FMC were incredible, going above and beyond the tests etc. to make sure I was OK and had the best/right care afterwards. I am incredibly grateful to them.

I had the Harmony test at FMC last year - my baby is now 3 weeks old - and have only positive things to say. Professional and kind, I wouldn't hesitate to recommend it.

It is great but all depends on which dr actually sees you we discovered.

If you book a Wed that is the day Prof N works there.

I had my harmony test, viability and 12 weeks scans there in dec/jan and highly recommend them. Very detailed scan, friendly staff.
The only problem is they have completely ruined me for the NHS's surly, mute "service"

TinyMonkey · 01/02/2015 21:24

I had the Harmony and a mini anomaly scan at the FMC last year at 15 weeks. They were great, and the scan was fantastic, very detailed. My daughter is now nine weeks old. Smile

Thanks everyone for telling me about your own experience with the FMC. I've really appreciated you taking the time to reply. It has definitely given me the reassurance that I need about having the test done there, knowing that I'll be in safe hands, supported and looked after well. So, today I have booked an appointment for mid-March, at -10+ weeks pg, :).

ps Thanks for the tip, SilverStars, I've booked both appointments on the Wednesday.
