hi all,

just after some advice/reasurance really. I'm sure I'm being stupid so just want to hear other peoples experiences. I am 21+3 and have been feeling baby kick from around new year. About two weeks ago I seemed to feel baby quite a bit throughout the week, then last week & this week I've barely felt anything. Today nothing at all. I had my 20 week scan last Tuesday & everything was fine. Am I worrying unnecessarily? I know its still early really but just thought I'd check with you guys & get some stories. thanks in advance :)

Please contact your midwife of maternity unit ASAP. Don't ignore it.

tattychicken · 27/01/2015 22:23

Get it checked. It's most prob fine, but you must get it checked. X

Jeggie · 27/01/2015 22:24

Please call the midwife or hospital now. It's not worth wondering about. Let them check you.

lemisscared · 27/01/2015 22:29

do get checked just for peace of mind x

BreeVDKamp · 27/01/2015 22:29

I'd definitely call the midwives, a couple of weeks ago I was around the exact same point in my pregnancy as you are now and had a weekend of 'no movement' after lots previously. Went in to triage and they checked the heartbeat and all was fine! In and out, easy as pie. Was in 2 minds about it and felt a bit silly, but they were happy to see me and it's always better to be safe than sorry.

Was actually back in triage on Sunday for another moment of paranoia and again was in 2 minds about ringing but it's always worth it I think.

PenguinsandtheTantrumofDoom · 27/01/2015 22:32

Get checked, absolutely.

However, at this stage what you are describing is quite common. Especially if you have an anterior placenta. They budge a bit and you can't feel them any more. I'm not saying this to put you off getting checked, just to calm you down in the meantime Smile

hlc123 · 27/01/2015 23:00

I would agree with the above advice, it's best to get checked if you have any concerns. Hope all is ok

I've literally just felt a little kick as I've got in bed but will definatley call the hospital in the morning & explain & see what they say. thanks everyone!

I was only just feeling mine at 21 weeks. Where I am they don't really monitor movement to 26+ weeks as it is so easy for them just to change position and be felt less.

FructoseTart · 27/01/2015 23:06

Never assume your safe. Always get checked if you feel it's not normal for your pregnancy.
I didn't get checked one day as had been in hospital every day from24 weeks, I was induced the next day with a still born at 34 weeks. Don't meant to scare you but always better to be safe than sorry !

LizzyBennet1813 · 27/01/2015 23:12

I will definatley get it checked out, not going to take any risks. have also just been going through my notes and my placenta is 'anterior high' which I read can result in feeling less movement so my mind is slightly at ease but will definatley be making a phone call in the morning. thank you once again.

I would ring now, I've been in for reduced movement and they always says they would rather you ring than sleep on it

My MW said movement does become regular until after around 24 weeks. I have an anterior placenta so that meant I didn't feel movement until 22+. I was at 20 week scan & it was moving all around & I couldn't feel a thing. In one of my many pregnancy baby books it says to lay in your left side & relax for 2 hours & you should feel movement. Or have you tried cold drink, sugary sweets/drink or playing music next to your bump? My baby likes bouncy dance music like Calvin Harris always gets a reaction & it likes the Happy song Smile

comeagainforbigfudge · 28/01/2015 06:37

Oh this could be me!! I'm on the podgy side so probably kicks are being absorbed.

Had a scan last week and Bubba kept playing with toes and wouldn't move for radiographer to finish scan. Need to go back 2mor anyway to get rest of scan done

Think I'm going to have a laid back yet stubborn baby!!

OneFlewOverTheMumsNest · 28/01/2015 09:02

I'm a few days behind you and experience the same kind of patterns you describe - periods of strong activity followed by very little. It is still very early and totally normal at this stage for movement to be erratic. When I was pregnant with DD I was feeling lots of movement by the time I went for anomaly scan (not had yet for this pregnancy) but still saw her making lots of movement on the screen that I couldn't feel at all, all depends on positioning.

However, if you have concerns a call to the midwife is always best.

LizzyBennet1813 · 28/01/2015 12:26

Thank you once again all, been and got checked out this morning & heard baby's heartbeat. All is fine :)
Good luck to those of you that are also pregnant! xThanks
