Hi guys

Just thinking about going on holiday when I will be around 5 months pregnant, what are your thoughts on it? My husband seems nervous about it, but I think lets get a holiday and quality time in before baby comes.

Absolutely nothing wrong with going on holiday! I am jealous lol I want a holiday but there is no chance we can fit one in by May!!!

Im going on holiday in feb half term when I will be 6 months pg! I don't think there's any restrictions on flying til after 28 weeks so why not?

Go and don't look back. Last chance for a while to enjoy a completely relaxed adult holiday (looks wistfully into the middle distance)

Oh god I'm five months pregnant now and I'd be off like a shot given half the chance! Go go go.

I went away within Europe at about 15 weeks and about 19 weeks and it was fine. I stayed out of the sun, took a bit more care than at home with food (eg with seafood etc) and they were relaxing holidays rather than going out or lots of cultural excursions holidays, as I was exhausted. Maybe avoid long haul, as it might be uncomfortable if nothing else! But other than those things I think there's no harm at all (maybe just double check your midwife thinks it's fine) and it'd be lovely to have the quality time together! I'm 40+2 and I'm so glad my DH and I had a couple of weeks together over Christmas just to enjoy time together before baby arrives.

We've got a holiday booked for when I'm 5 months - booked before I realised I was pregnant. I can't wait!

WingsClipped · 20/01/2015 11:06

We've just come back from holiday and I'm nearly 7months. It's fine, just rest when you need to- a bit more sitting at cafes etc. ours was pretty action packed as it was city based but I managed okay.

HazleNutt · 20/01/2015 11:09

depends on where you go - maybe not the best time for a jungle trek days from civilization. Normal beach or city holiday - of course not a problem. Just get a proper health insurance, especially if going to the US.

If I could get on a plane without taking Valium I would definitely be going on holiday, I know quite a few people who have had a week in the sun at around five months, sounds like bliss :D

I went to Vegas at 12 weeks in July heat of 50 degrees and was fine. 12 hour flight too. go for it!!

I flew to the States when 5 and then 6 months pg. no issues. Drove to N France for weekend when 38 weeks and that was fine too. Long time in car!

With DS2 I spent a month in south of France ( we have place there) doing DIY when 7 months.

Go! Enjoy!

ChatEnOeuf · 20/01/2015 12:21

Do it! I'm flying long haul for a week of sun and relaxing at 21 weeks, I'm looking forward to it so much!

bagofsnakes · 20/01/2015 13:07

I flew to the US to visit family at 14 weeks and travelled back at 17 weeks and it was completely fine. My feet did get pretty swollen on the flight though so I'd advise compression socks.

Enjoy!

blankfornames · 21/01/2015 07:35

I flew away for the weekend at 33 weeks. Totally fine. I didn't have a Dr's note so I kept my big coat well buttoned up!

eurochick · 21/01/2015 07:40

Go go go! The general advice is to keep moving and well hydrated on a flight and be aware that your skin could be more sensitive to the sun. And take good travel insurance.

I hit 20 weeks pregnant in the Maldives and felt my first movements when we hit turbulence on the way out. Even the long haul flight wasn't too bad, although I could have done without the full recliner in front of me.

I went to Spain at 11 weeks it was blissful I slept in the warm sun all day Smile
