Just that really, I'm only 7+4 so I'm a long way off buying anything but just out of curiousity I'd love to know what you all had as your first purchase for baby. Smile

Ha ha pocopearl, it's this phone it "auto corrects" everything....including things which don't need it. Made me chuckle when you pointed it out though Blush

I bought some socks and a multi-coloured t-shirt/shorts set when I was about 5 weeks, it was so hard resisting buying more but I didn't want a wardrobe and room full of beige so made myself wait until the gender scan at 16 weeks before I bought anything else. (Then shopped like crazy Smile)

I bought two changing mats after 20 weeks, had to start somewhere but was scared to buy too much to soon. Took it slowly but surely until I grew in confidence.

First pregnancy I was just so excited as it was so very much wanted and I'd waited so long. I bought a toy cat that rattles when I was about 8 weeks. Sadly, I lost that pregnancy at about 10.5 weeks, but I don't really regret buying something. I just packed it up in my sad brown box with my notes, pregnancy books, vitamins, etc and put it away. It was no worse than if i hadn't bought something and I got that blissful happy moment of buying it.

I'm now 10 weeks again and I've bought nothing because it's so hard to feel excited without feeling anxious this time around, especially at this stage. If everything is okay, I'll start buying things when get the results from my nuchal scan. I'm going to buy some tiny clothes - we're not doing pink/blue anyways, so no need to wait on that. :)

A hat at 6 weeks.

Missymum6 · 20/01/2015 10:00

We were told at our 11 week scan it was 70 percent girl but not to go shopping.... I did go shopping and I brought things that are still upstairs with the tags on like newborn sandles (she was born in dec) and tiny newborn wellys with a matching fisherman hat!!! Lol I def got a bit excited and carried away and brought ALOT of non practical but very cute things. At least she will have some boots for her Dolly's lol

poco hahaha.

fatty I think poco was referring to the misspelling of muslins rather than debating their usefulness!!

Pisghetti · 20/01/2015 14:22

I didn't buy anything before the 12 week scan. DP didn't even want me to collect my Bounty pack until after the scan either.

The first purchase was the Moses basket (because it was a bargain!) at about 16 ish weeks? I picked up a few odds and ends - steriliser, muslins, nappies etc over time but our next big purchase (the pram) wasn't until after the 20 week scan. To be honest I was waiting for the post-Christmas sales so the joint account has taken a hammering over the past couple of weeks! I think we've got pretty much everything on the list now except for a hat.

comeagainforbigfudge · 20/01/2015 15:58

I haven't bought anything! Don't even have a list. Family will be giving us stuff so not wanting to buy anything until I know what I'm getting.

Might look at bookends and pictures for walls in meantime Smile

Sorry ladies Im just so easily amused. I was giggling away to myself as I was typing it... its the simple things that keep me amused. On a serious note, I found both useful with DS1. I went through phases of bibs are awesome cant believe I ever thought about muslins and then thinking muslins were the bees knees and bibs being a pita. First thing I bought was loads of little dresses because I was convinced I was having a girl. Bit of a shock when a boy came out...
