Has anyone else had weird cravings?

I started off with ice cold water, which isnt too bad! Then went onto anything with gravy!

Now today it just took a weird turn, on the way back from my midwife appt I called into the local chip shop and bought a carton of mushy peas Just them on their own and came home and sat and ate them with a fork!

Baby monster, I'm 28 weeks pg on Thursday and haven't really had any cravings. I said earlier I had a phase of wanting cheese on toast and salad cream but I could always eat that! My mum lked the smell of moth balls and petrol with me!!!

babymonster · 16/10/2006 22:06

dh says he will get me what ever i want at any time of the day aslong as its a genuine craving and not just me being lazy so might have to make up some cravings. chocolate cake and treacle sponge looks like good ones to start with hehehe

Daisypops · 16/10/2006 22:08

Babymonster-Lay it on with DH! I think you should have cravings for a full on roast at 3am!!! Only thing my DP has done for me is a pizza and coleslaw at about 10pm, then he stole half of it

babymonster · 16/10/2006 22:10

hehehe. He does make a good roast dinner sounds like a great idea.

babymonster · 16/10/2006 22:11

you've still got plenty of time to go sure you can get a few more pizzas out of him yet

Glad I'm not the only one with the KFC-craving. I have the two-piece meal twice a week at the moment, and went mad at them the other day 'cause they didn't have any chips ready .

And I've read Fast Food Nation.

These poor men who have to live and put up with our cravings..!! 2nd thoughts, tough...after all we go through over 40 weeks AND then the birth it's the least they can accept from us....!

I had a strong craving for sponges towards the end of my last pregnancy which made me feel like I was totally weird, and actually I didn't dare tell anyone (a part from DH).
I remember precisely going to Wilko to buy 2, and had to buy a certain type as well.
I used to inhale them in the bath when they were full of hot water and chew them as well (although I'd like to add NOT eat them or swallow them).
I used to also strongly crave the smell of bleach, petrol, and that smell you get when you get into an old hot car in the summer.
It's weird how they stopped suddenly, together with my heartburn and every other niggles the moment I gave birth.

With DS it was balsamic vinegar on herb salad and vegetable samosas with mango chutney, with DD it was cherries and chocolate and this time round I am drnking hot ribena and mangos and pomegranates. It is weird!

soph28 · 18/10/2006 22:14

oh my goodness! I can't believe that sponges is normal. I secretly admitted it to my sister who was also pregnant and she had it too. We both thought we were total freaks. When walking through shops had to exert enormous will power to stop myself tearing open all the packets of sponges and eating them!!!

Also craved ice cubes and strawberries.

Had no cravings at all with my ds only with my dd!!

Monologue · 18/10/2006 22:24

My teeth are on edge at thought of sponge eating. Yikes, stop it.

weirdbird · 20/10/2006 17:18

tidyjane, you are me!!!! that described so well what I had last pregnancy. And when you got to do any of these things I got a funny feeling in the back of my throat like nothing I have felt before or since!

This time around for me, it has been sensitivity of my skin to hot and cold, all of a sudden I want to sink my hands into a bowl of boiling hot washing up water!! and getting into the hot shower in the morning after having stood in the cold bathroom, awwwwwwww

Hi all. Up till now i've just been a lurker(am 5 days late so am reading up on pregnancy tests etc)

I am sooooooo glad ive read this thread because when i was carrying my ds2 I absolutely craved the smell of fire lighters. It started off with the 'back' fumes off furniture polish, so that everything was gleaming with the amount of polishing I did (unusual), then progressed to those lovely little white bricks.
I even got to the point where i carried one around with me in a plastic bag so i could sniff it, and also squeeze it....(and sometimes just place my teeth on it in a mini bite!!)

I thought i was weird

Greensleeves · 31/10/2006 15:22

With ds2 I craved gravel, sand, plaster dust, aggregate - the smells drove me wild. You know that smell when it rains on very dry concrete - it made me go weak at the knees

I spent one evening pleading with dh to nip up to the railway and steal me some lumps of agreggate to suck. There was also the time we walked past road works and there was a blast of plaster dust and sand - dh had to physically haul me away
