5 weeks pregnant with twins

I've just found out that I'm 5 1/2 weeks pregnant, and there appears to be two babies! I'm still in shock, and dh has had to go for a lie down!

The ultrasound lady acted really surprised that I haven't been getting any morning sickness yet, and it's got me really worried. I'm tired with sore boobs but otherwise I feel fine. Does this mean that my hormone levels aren't right?

Should I be worried? Have any of you had experience of a twin pregnancy? When did your morning sickness kick in?

I had no morning sickness with my twins, and everything was fine. They're 3 1/2 now.

Congratulations, it's an awful lot to take in but twins are ace.

I was sick as a dog from 6-16 weeks, it was truely awful. The morning sickness improved after 16 weeks to just being sick once day until I gave birth.

Congratulations. My twins are now 2.3.

I didn't realise you could even get a scan that early. I haven't had twins but didn't get morning sickness til after 6 weeks.

I just slept a lot (after I got over the shock - didn't sleep at all that night).

I really wouldn't worry about the lack of morning sickness. It's possibly a sign you are well rested. I have twins who will be ten in January. I found out at six weeks that it was twins, and it's a bloody long road, but try and just focus on the practical aspects. Congratulations!

How can they tell it's twins at 5 1/2 weeks? Confused.

Hi
I am 24 weeks with twins and didn't have any real morning sickness only gagging on toothbrush when brushing teeth. Felt tired and very hungry in first trimester but have had easy time so far and all is fine. Congratulations!

I am 12.5 weeks with twins and so far have had no morning sickness. All was fine at my scans at 7 weeks, 9 weeks and 12 weeks!

Congratulations, my twins are 4, it's been brilliant, hard work, but brilliant.
My morning sickness didn't kick in till around 6 weeks and as pp have mentioned some people don't get it at all.

Congratulations!!!
We found out at 12 weeks but I had been so sick from 6 weeks on the signs were there! Twins are an absolute blessing & I still feel we could have had one baby who could have been more demanding than our amazingly happy & well behaved 16m id boys!

This is all so reassuring!

I really wanted to have a scan before Christmas so that I could tell my Mum (didn't feel right not telling her, but wanted to make sure everything was okay first!). Went to book a private scan, but there were no appointments until January, so we thought we'd just go to the ultrasound place (really near to our house) and ask if they could fit us in!

Turns out that they could! We couldn't see the heartbeats or anything but two clear sacks!

It's such a shock though!

Congratulations! I'm 32 weeks now with non-id boys, and (touch wood) have had no sickness whatsoever. I've been really tired, have constant heartburn and nightly leg cramps, but at least I'm not being sick!
You will be exhausted, so nap when you can. I've found tuc biscuits and orange lucozade got me through the first few months!

Hi Dani, I'm 30+3 with non identical twins, I started to feel a tidgy bit nauseous before the 7th week, then bang, awful awful nausea (but rarely threw up). Turned out the nausea was caused my indegestion and Gaviscon helped a lot. My tiredness in the first trimester was the worst and this started at 5 weeks and was horrendous.

Every woman and pregnancy is different, have you read the post from the lady who feels normal at the same gestation as you? She's had loads of replies from other ladies like yourself. It's just with twins they say you sometimes get double the morning sickness symptoms.... But if you're not having them to begin with, that's double of nothing, so don't worry. Xxxxxx

Feel the need to repeat again that a third of identical twins have separate sacs and placentas so to those of you who 'are pregnant with non identical twins' please be aware that unless they are boy/girl there is a still a chance that they're identical.

My separate placenta identical boys (!) are lovely- I felt a bit sick when pregnant with them but was only actually sick once so don't panic if you aren't having horrible morning sickness and good luck with the pregnancy- twins are fab.

I feel like I've tempted fate because I woke up this morning feeling like I've been on one of those horrible tilt-a-whirl fairground rides, and can't get up without a wave of nausea! I suppose I deserve this after complaining about a lack of symptoms!

Thank you all for the lovely reassurance, it seems that everybody is different, and that just because symptoms are different doesn't mean that they're wrong!

Still in shock though - I suppose I should have been expecting this as I am a twin myself, but I never thought that this would happen to me!!

Hi dani
I found out two weeks ago that I am carrying twins!!! My husbands face was a picture! I'm still in shock too. However, have to go for another scan tomorrow as one heartbeat was very very slow, and the nurse wasn't sure it would survive.
Anyway, just wanted to say that I have no symptoms apart from feeling exhausted by 5pm!! And I'm 9 weeks on Tuesday
Good luck with everything

I'm expecting identical twins :) I found out I was pregnant really early maybe when I was around 4 weeks as I got morning sickness really early. I had to go into hospital for an early scan @ just over 6 weeks due to a couple of scares which was when I found out there was 2. From 6 weeks on there has been no morning sickness and I'm now just over 12 weeks and still nothing so I wouldn't worry too much because mine didn't last long. Congratulations on your news. Amazing.
