Anyone pregnant after 2mcs

If you are pregnant or have had a baby after 2mcs, did you have any treatment, take aspirin, or anything? or just do the same as before?

I'm currently 11 weeks pregnant after 2 mcs. I was referred to recurring mc clinic and had an apt for Jan but hopefully won't need it! No treatment given so far, just early scans and hcg checks early on.

And I feel like I'm losing my mind with constant worry and fear.
Haven't done anything different this time. 1st pregnancy took me by surprise. Second time and this time around I took folic acid, vit d and omega oils. As soon as I've found out I was pregnant started pregnancy vit.
Gp advised I should try, it's probably bad luck, don't worry, etc...you've probsbly heard it too.

After 1st mmc I had blood tests, basic ones I suppose and checked my thyroid levels.

I'm 40 weeks after 2 mc's. Didnt do anything different except change the vitamins I was on - though this was just being paranoid really. And I was able to have a 7 and a 9 week scan which was great as my first mc was discovered at the 12 week scan so I was very anxious about waiting til 12 weeks. There's almost never anything you could have done differently to avoid an mc, unless there is a specific issue, it is normally just terrible luck/one of those things.

Hi everyone. This is my first-ever post on Mumsnet although I've lurked for a long time. I am currently just over five weeks pregnant, having had two early miscarriages in June and September this year (one at around five weeks and the other at nearly six weeks). I haven't had any investigations so far as everyone I've spoken to says you need to have three miscarriages before they will do anything. I've got a scan booked for the end of December, assuming the pregnancy makes it that far.

I'm a complete nervous wreck at the moment and am convinced I'm going to miscarry again. The only major symptom I've had is sore breasts, and I keep checking them obsessively to see if they're still sore (probably making them worse in the process!). I'm worried I haven't had morning sickness yet, even though I know five weeks would be quite early for it to start.

It's good to see that some people have had successful pregnancies after two mcs. I just don't feel at all positive at the moment!

It's so scary being pregnant after mcs you kind of lose the pregnancy innocence. I've had three early mcs and have four dcs aged 9,4,15 months and 9 weeks I did nothing differently with any of the pregnancies.

Yep. Me too. 7-8w in March this year, 6-7w twins in August. Currently 13 weeks with my fourth pregnancy (DD is 3).

Things I've changed...

I stopped taking citalopram. I know it doesn't cause miscarriages but I was coming off it anyway in July, so just accelerated the final phase.

I took twice the usual dose of folic acid (800 micrograms) - I read a study where higher dose seemed to be associated with better outcomes but it wasn't statistically significant, or the primary out come measure they were looking for, so won't be adopted as normal practice.

Apart from being extremely anxious, nothing else is different, I kept my normal diet, exercise etc.

I have had two healthy DC's since M/C's and am currently pg with DC3

Bookworm hang in there. You should be able to push for an early scan at your EPU for reassurance I think.

P.s. I had an early scan on Friday - saw a little heartbeat

8+2 weeks according to scan, 9+2 according to dates.

I'm going with the scan as I have PCOS so ovulation is random.

number3 did your doc prescribe the aspirin for an diagnosed issue or was it precautionary?

19+5 with 4th PG after 3 mc, given loads of tests by GP and referred to rmc, no identified issues, put myself on 75mg aspirin, rmc consultant had no issue with that, will continue to 36 weeks.

Not done anything different this time round, in fact after 18 months ttc and 3 mc I've been even less stringent than before!

Still doesn't feel real and only just starting to think I might actually have a baby! Mc really does take away the innocence, I've not relaxed and an always expecting the worst 20wk scan on the 22nd so just keeping everything crossed for then at the minute!

Hello, I'm also pregnant after two miscarriages. One at the beginning of June and one at the end of July. I've not been put on any treatment, they have written down that I had to previous failed pregnancies. I got prescribed aspirin 75mg for a previous small full term baby. I've just started feeling movement lately so this has put my mind at ease so much. And I have my anomaly scan this week, so looking forward to that. Best of luck for the future.

34 wks pg after 3 mcs. It has not been easy!
I did have investigations between pregnancy 1 and 2- though the results took ages and by the time they came back to say I had thrombophilia I had lost pg 2...
With pg 3 I started treatment early with aspirin and low molecular heparin injections, but sadly also miscarried. Seems, however, that it was a blighted ovum - with that one we never saw a heartbeat or anything...

With this one I had aspirin, heparin, progesterone and lots of TLC from my dr who scanned me on request (which was almost every two weeks at the beginning until my 13 wks scan).

I can't say I have enjoyed the pregnancy very much- have been worried and thought of worse case scenarios all the way through. But if it all goes well and I get a baby at the nd of it it will all have been worth it!!

Me2Me2 Eclampsia with seizures with DS, pre-eclampsia with DD and the previous m/c's meant they wanted to be extra careful.

I have read it is not proven to help as early m/c is 99% of the time due to the baby not growing properly, but it helps ease my mind and I think that the main thing for ladies who have had m/c's is to try and be as relaxed as possible.

I won't be counting my chickens baby until I have him or her in my hands, but with each week I feel happier.

Hi there. I have had 3 mcs and am now 13 weeks pregnant. I had every mc investigation under the sun and nothing came back abnormal. My third mc was Trisomy 15, so incompatible with life.
However, i was told not to take aspirin, but was put on progesterone for the first trimester. I was also told to take heparin but decided not to as I don't have any identifiable clotting disorder.
Things i did differently this time round:
I had acupuncture (don't know if this had any effect but it made me feel like i was doing something) - will be having this till I'm around 16 weeks.
I tried to have a 30 minute walk every day - apparently exercise is good for your eggs and gets blood circulating to your ovaries (?!).
Preconception vits
High dose Vit D, also Vit E
Coenzyme Q10 (for egg health)
I stopped the extra vitamins and COQ10 when i found out i was pregnant.

If I were you i wouldn't start taking anything like aspirin when you get pregnant again. You can't know if that's what you need without the proper testng, and you don't want to take anything that may potentially be harmful.

I don't really post here, but remember feeling so worried when pregnant with my successful ones after losses, so wanted to tell you what happened to me.

I had two miscarriages, one very early, one at 11 weeks, before getting pregnant with DD. I didn't do anything special. She was born at 38 weeks after my waters broke naturally, although I had a partial abruption during labour and the placenta was "very aged" for 38 weeks.

We started ttc#2, expecting it to be easier since we thought we'd just been unlucky to have two losses, having then had a healthy DD. But I had two more losses, which they investigated but didn't find anything. I was advised to take low-dose aspirin next time I was pregnant though, which I did, and was then induced on my due date as the consultant did not want to risk the placenta failing. DS was born at exactly 40 weeks and the placenta was perfectly healthy.

I'd been tempted to take low-dose aspirin with DD but didn't because I felt that I shouldn't unless on medical advice. I did speak to one midwife when pg with DS who said she'd have all pregnant women on it as a precaution if she could though!

I had two babies followed by two miscarriages. One at 8 weeks which happened naturally and one picked up at 8 weeks scan, resulting in D&C a week later. I was also told no point doing any tests unless I'd had 3 and also that most of the time the tests don't show anything anyway.

Am currently 33 weeks pregnant with number 3 (finally!) and didn't do anything different this time except a whole lot of worrying! First trimester was very very nerve wracking and long. Had a scan at 8 weeks and relaxed a little and then another at 11 weeks and started believing it would be ok then.

I'm currently on my 3rd pregnancy after 2 x mc's this year and I'm so scared!!!

I'm currently 6+3 ( lost previous at 6 5 weeks and 9 weeks) and I'm taking 800 micrograms of folic acid. Also taking 75mg aspirin as well.

My GP said it was the first thing they do after 3 mc's so it couldn't hurt.

The only thing he said was if the reason for the mc's was not related to needing aspirin, then taking it wasn't going to stop me having one.

It's very much a personal choice though and I felt the potential benefit outweighed the risk.

I'm really very encouraged by all of this. Prior to this thread my googling the topic was getting me more and more worried. V glad for all of you to have these successes after mcs.

I had 3 MCs, the last being in 2012 - I got pregnant in may 2013, my son was born in February this year & I'm currently 38 wks gone again! I've taken baby asprin all through both. The first trimester was nerve jangling both times but hopefully once that's been weathered you can relax a bit, hard as it is! Best of luck! Xx

I had two miscarriages, one at 7 weeks in 2012 then a blighted ovum which ended with a D&C at 11 weeks at Christmas last year. We had decided not to try again for a while as I've just started a new job but low and behold I missed a period (which never happens) and found out a few days later I was pregnant. I have one DS who is 3 he was also a 'surprise' and I'm now 14 weeks pregnant. Everything looked ok on the 12 week scan although they couldn't do the downs check due to the position of the baby. I still can't relax, I'm on constant knicker watch and every ache and pain has my gut clenching in fear. We have only told members of our family so far as I feel I don't want to make it public knowledge in case everything goes wrong. I'm not normally a negative person at all but I feel like I can't enjoy this pregnancy and am waiting for some bad news. Hope I snap out of it soon x

Forgot to put that I also decided to take 75mg of Asprin per day in this pregnancy. I spoke to the doctor and midwife about it and they said that there's no harm in taking such a low dosage and if it puts my mind at ease it can only help. So far it's worked
