40 weeks today and membrane sweep,please advice me!

I am 40 weeks today.I have high BMI and high bp which has been under control with labetalol. Last week I didn't see my consultant-she had an emergency in the delivery suit and had to go (she is really good).I saw someone else and she scared me a lot.Also,she told me to book membrane sweep for this week with community midwife which I did. BUT....I really don't want to have it at least for another 2-3 days,I want to see if something will happen naturally without them intervening.
My question is ,can I decline it tday and book it for friday (they work only tue and fri) or I have to go through it today (have app at 10-20am)?

I feel very disappointed -not sure why and very down. It's like I am being forced to do something that I wasn't ready to do...anyone please

It's your body Hun. You don't have to do anything that you feel uncomfortable with. If your happy n well enough to not have it then leave it. Call them and tell them you'll give it a miss to see if things will happen naturally, which they will eventually. (Speaking from experience, I'm on 5th baby! Lol)

I read lots of different stories,experiences also positive and negative stories.
I really don't want to go through that today,I want to give another few days {it's my third baby) but what if midwife starts telling me off? And if I want to change for friday and she doesn't want to do it on friday? What do I do??/ Thank you....

It's your decision it didn't start things off for me so I would be tempted to as it didn't hurt me etc. but it is your decision and if midwife disagrees just say it is my decision and after thinking about it I would like to make an appointment for later on maybe next Tuesday if u feel Friday is to soon she shouldn't make you have it if you don't feel comfortable having it today good luck with the rest if the pregnancy hopefully it will all start on its own

As long as your BMI and BP are under control I'd stay away and let nature take it's course.

After being induced with DD1 (2 weeks late) I made it clear I wanted things to happen naturally with DD2. I had low bp and, I think due to my age, I agreed to have check-ups on a monitor every 2 days after 40 weeks. I think she arrived about 10 days late - and it was wonderful to give birth naturally - and very quick!!!

Yes, I would agree. Just say no and wait for it to happen naturally. I had membrane sweep with little boy and it was very unpleasant ??

Good evening...I am sorry for a late update.I just didn't stop all day.
I went for my app and met two new (to me) midwives.They were lovely and didn't mind my list of questions.I refused to do the membrane sweep today and postponed it for Friday.
They were really kind,understanding and full of information.I got all answers and they didn't judge me or made any negative comment.I left very ,very happy and calm....

Agreed- as long as everything is medically fine there is absolutely no reason for a sweep, the nhs uses them far too much for no reason IMO and many find them unpleasant and violating (including me). It is scary disagreeing with the medical establishment though. With DS2 I declined a sweep at 41+2 (no medical indications for it, I was absolutely fine) and said I was sure he would arrive when he was ready and he did- 12 hours afterwards! Stay well away from sweeps.
