A week ago today I went into hospital with what I thought was just niggling stomach cramp that turned into irregular but very strong contractions. I was given the fetal fibronectin test which came back positive however my cervix was still closed. I was 32 +1 weeks.

I was told this just meant I was at a higher risk of going into early labour and was given the steroids to strengthen babys lungs. The contractions eased off by themselves so I was not put on the drip to stop labour.

I was allowed home but taken back in the next day with tightenings again. They did stop by themselves again however. Since then ive had them on and off (and the stomach cramps) all week but they keep easing off on their own. I was told just to ignore them unless they became regular or particularly painful.

Has anyone else had a positive results on the fetal fibronectin test? if so how long was it until you did go into labour properly?
Do people think I'll go into labour early or last until term?
Thanks.

Its really hard to say, I was like that from 30wks til I went into labour properly which was 37wks. My test come back neg at 33wks. But I know someone who had a positive one at 34 weeks and she didnt give birth til 39+5wks so it is really hard to judge these things. But because you have had a positive just be prepared incase x

I had one at 32 weeks, and had two lots of steroids but here I am, 37 weeks and still going strong :) they're not that accurate, apparently far MORE accurate at telling you that you won't go into labour if you get a negative.
