Itchy very painful rash lesions

Hi I'm 26 wks pregnant and have a rash that started 4 wks ago which was about 6 like insect bite looking on my arm,since then it has spread all over my body and has changed in look this is my 3rd pregnancy and have never had anything like this before, I have been to the doctors, midwifes, hospital and no one seem to be listening just saying baby is fine, I am clearly not thou I'm getting 2 hrs sleep a night wearing clothes is so painful and irritates it so much I'm lucky I have no nails as I'm constantly scratching it's now on the bottoms of my feet so hurts so much to walk, steroid creams make it burn bathing hurts moisturisers hurt allergy tablets do nothing I'm at my wits end and if had a gun would shoot myself I dunno what to do

OMG you poor thing!! Can u get bk to your docs or a Walk in centre at the hospital? It looks absolutely painful, bless ya. I bet it's driving you insane. Hope you get some relief ASAP Hun.

Tell them your feet are itching. It could be a sign of obstetric cholestasis, a liver complaint that happens sometimes in pregnancy. It can be quite serious so don't just wait until your next midwife appt.

Is the rash so red because you've scratched it raw?

I've had my liver checked and I've been to a walk in hospital, they gave me some cream which hasn't done anything just stings when put on, I also spent 9 hrs at the hospital on the maternity unit as I had bleeding on Wednesday last wk so asked them if they could get me a dermatologist to look at it or doc,I'm in that much pain I've also asked to be induced as early as possible there answer was as there is no health issue with the baby there is nothing they can do and didn't get a doc or dermatologist for me, I left crying and in pain as this is very painful and distressing and am only having 2 hrs sleep a day and have 2 other children at home and am a single parent I just feel I'm being ignored and that my health and quality or life and 2 other children's is being seriously affected :(

Could be PUPPP

In that case, go to your GP and demand a referral to a consultant dermatologist. Don't leave til you get one.

He has sent now for me 2 of which were meant to be emergency I got an letter and when I rang they said 76 days, I've rang the hospital and there saying there is no emergency appointment made but I was there when the doc phoned them and faxed a letter as I say I feel like I'm just being ignored, and I asked the doc about that pupp as I found that on internet he hadn't heard of it, he did look it up when I was there and as I've already been pregnant twice before and had a boy which were a few of the reasons for getting it he said unlikely but isn't a dermatologist so there isn't any more he can do for me or give me as I need to see a specialist it's so frustrating

Can you afford a private consultation with a dermatologist? I guess 76 days must be the wait to see one on the NHS in your area?

You definitely need a dermatologist. Not in UK so excuse my ignorance but can a GP bump you up the list with a call to their secretary explaining how bad it is? Or can you ring and beg for a cancellation slot? It's not like acne that needs to be checked out! Good luck

He rang the hospital for me last Friday when I was there and faxed them an urgent request, I rang them Monday and they said they have no record or urgent appointment requests for me, it's now 3 am and I've had no sleep and the pain is unbearable I can't stand this any longer :( I dunno what else I can do

Rang the hospital again today they said that my new appointment is the 1st of dec as my case isn't classed as urgent which just reduced me to tears that I would have to wait another 5 wks to be seen and have already had it for 5 wks from the first couple of spots, I rang my doc crying and begging who then rang the hospital for me, I now have got an appointment this Thursday so even thou in serious pain still I'm hoping in 2 days time I will have some answers and something to ease all this pain and I may be able to finally get some sleep and relive from this nightmare rash as is still spreading daily

I remember seeing someone who had something that sounded and looked identical to that on a tv programme about birth. ( I don't remember which one, sorry). The poor woman who had it was suffering terribly and had had to be admitted to hospital, but there wasn't a lot they could do and eventually she couldn't stand it any more and was induced early.

As soon (within days) of giving birth it was gone, or massively improved.

So sorry I can't remember more, hope it is of some use. And a really hour you get some relief soon, it sounds horrible and very frustrating.

Hopefully get some answers today as got my appointment with the dermatologist later on, it can't come quick enough as it's still spreading and have been up all night in serious pain crying and had no sleep what so ever :(

I've had PUPP. It's agony. I feel your pain. People don't take you seriously as they think it's just a rash but it is awful! Good luck with your appointment but in the meantime google pine tar soap. It's amazing for taking the itch away. Showered five times a day with it and the rash became a lot more bearable.

I was going to suggest pupp too, I had it and it was miserable. Ime doctors and mws don't take it seriously as it doesn't affect the baby or cause serious health problems so we are expected to just get on with it. Totally agree with DoNotDisturb on the soap although it is very difficult to get pine tar soap in the UK so I used coal tar soap instead and the itch started to go within a few days, amazing stuff but very frustrating that the hcps don't even know about this 80p miracle cure!

Looks like PUPP. I had it for the last 2 months of my first pregnancy and all my stupid GP kept saying was "at least your ankles aren't swollen" and "have you tried calamine lotion?" I tried everything, but the only thing I found that worked was Snake Brand Prickly Heat Powder.
The good news is that it disappeared within a day or so of giving birth.

My DSis had something very simialar when pregnant. It turned out to be excema, she left it a long time before seeing a GP and it ended up infected and leaking greenish fluid < not envy. She got referred to dermatology at the hospital who treated it. She was constantly itching.
