I only found out I am pregnant yesterday , but we've been trying for six months.

My last period began the second of September , I did a pregnancy test on the thirty th of September and it was negative. I began to bleed on the second of October , it wasn't too heavy and lasted about three or four days.

But I was still getting breast pain , spotting , and bled for a day , not too heavily, about the eighteenth or nineteenth of october. so idid another pregnancy test on Wednesday the twentysecond of October and it was positive.

My doctor says I may have miscarried at the beginning of October, but why would I get negative test results two days before I bled and positive results three weeks later?

I have a scan tomorrow but I'm so upset and desperate to understand this. Please help ! Xxx

Oh Apple I'm sorry to hear you are having this stress.

Unfortunately I've had several miscarriages so I know that awful feeling and stress when you first start bleeding and you just don't know if you'll be lucky and it'll turn out to be okay anyway. (I've also had a full healthy pregnancy and healthy baby so if it is a miscarriage please don't worry that there is anything serious going on, I did and I nearly drove myself mad with it until I realised I had just been very unlucky)

I really don't know what to say other than keep strong until your scan tomorrow make sure someone goes with you as you might want the support after the scan. I really hope everything is okay for you.

Could the bleeding have been either your period or implantation bleeding? Either way I would say the positive test 3 weeks after bleeding indicates you are pregnant today, whatever happened earlier in the month. However, if it was your period at the start of October then it would only be a very faint positive test and nothing would be visible on the scan. If that was implantation bleeding then you should be able to see a good blob on the scan.

I hope everything works out for you.

I hope you get the results you want at the scan. My experience is that bleeding in pregnancy can be inconclusive. I had spotting and cramping on the day of my missed period, and more spotting about a week after I got a positive test. I had a large bleed at 13 odd weeks and I'm still preg now. Even the gynae couldnt explain the bleeding.
It's hard because there are no answers. All you can do is hold on and hope for the best. I hope it all works out ok for you.

Oops. Didn't see the bleeding a few days ago. That could go either way. They say 50% of bleeding results in mc. I have bled in all of mine and hopefully will have dc2 in April (but also had 2 mcs).
