Can you see the heartbeat at 6 week scan?

I'm having a scan at EPU next week when I'll be 6+2 weeks. How likely am I to see the heartbeat if all is ok? X

With DD I had a scan at 6+1 (internal scan) and we could see the heartbeat then, but were told before the scan not to expect to see it at that stage.

It's possible but not a certainty. If it isn't there then as long as there is a fetal pole etc try not to be too worried. I did see a hb at about the same stage so it can be seen sometimes but it's a week later before you're most likely to see it.

There's no definitive answer as there are so many factors that will affect what is picked up and how things have developed. We had an early scan at 5 weeks and we're lucky to see a fetal pole that had a heartbeat but the operator was very careful to make sure we knew that if we didn't see anything it didn't mean there was no pregnancy.

I saw one at 5 weeks + 6 days. I went in telling myself that it wasn't always possible to see at that gestation so I was pleasantly surprised when I saw it.

Thank you I got a 3+ on a clearblue digital before I was 5 weeks so hoping that may have a bearing in development too. Just don't think my nerves will taking waiting another week or two of no heartbeat can be seen in Thursday.

We saw one at 5+4. Was more a quivering line than a beat but that's what it was.
