Hi! I'm new to all this so be kind! First post and all that Smile
I found out I was 4 weeks pregnant on Saturday just gone. I am trying to plan some savings for when the baby arrives (hope I'm not jinxing things!).
I've been employed by my employer for nearly a year, but they don't pay enhanced maternity pay until you have been employed for 2 years...by which time, all things being well, I would already have given birth, but would still be on maternity leave. Has anyone ever heard of an employer's enhanced maternity pay kicking in once someone is already on maternity leave? I didn't think this would be a problem but my employer is very vague about terms and conditions and staff benefits so its taken some digging to find this out.
I'm just trying to work out how much I need to save each month. This is my first pregnancy and I'm trying to be organised!
Thanks for any advice/help.

Sadly not - I miss out on the two year package my employers offer by weeks and it's tough luck I'm afraid :( they go by how long you've been with the company at 26 weeks I think, when your SMP is calculated, as far as I understand.

Good luck with your pregnancy :)

Same for me! I missed out by a month or so.

On the plus side it means I don't have to go back (not mad on my job and can't imagine it being doable with a little one).

Also I know smp isn't much, but we have managed to get everything (I hope!) for little one while I was still getting full pay and save too. As long as you shop around and don't mind some things being second hand/sale, which I think has made a big difference to how prepared we are for the drop to smp.

Congratulations by the way! :) x

Ah man!
Never mind! Guess we'll have to redouble the saving efforts!
Thanks ladies, I didn't expect it all to happen so quickly so thought I would make the two year mark. Go hum!
