So I'd psyched myself up to go get my WC vaccine last week then forgot about it ( you just turn up so I didn't waste an appt) . I've decided today's a good day to go as I have no other commitments for the rest of the day but I'm so scared.
Logically I know it's safe, there's a real risk of WC and no proven risk of the vaccine causing complications but still I'm scared.
Handholding required!!!

Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

You will be fine!

Takes 2 seconds. Your arm will be a bit sore for a few days, then you'll forget about it. As you said there's a real risk of whooping cough so it's definitely the right thing to do!

Go as soon as possible so it's done and over with!

You're so right. I just need to woman up don't I?!

I've had my porridge, I'll grab my stuff, go loo and go. I just know I'll spend the rest of the day checking movement! Silly isn't it?

Hello,
A large study showed no evidence of harm from the vaccine and another study has shown tangiable benefits. You can read about it in the patient information leaflet below.

Hope this helps :)

Done! Feeling disproportionately pleased with myself...

Excellent!

Don't worry about movement more than you normally would, the vaccine shouldn't have any effect on it. Remember that you can take paracetamol if your arm gets real sore!

I'm very much feeling this way about going for my flu jab!

amy83firsttimer · 16/10/2014 13:17

Flu jab's absolutely fine, had that a couple of weeks ago. Arm is sore now - thanks for paracetamol reminder - might save that for bedtime.

There is also a patient leaflet about flu vaccination in pregnancy ;)
