18 weeks - baby too small?

Hi everyone!

I'm 18 weeks pregnant with my 1st baby. I went for my normal GP checkup 2 days ago and he felt my tummy to see where my uterus was. He said it was low compared to where it should be at 18 weeks and as I have not felt any movement yet, he sent me directly to the emergency obstetric unit at the hospital.

I wasnt too worried at this point as Ive read things can take time when its your first. However when the nurse tried to find a heartbeat through a stethoscope she could only hear the umbilical cord and said she would get a dr to do an ultrasound.

Now you can imagine I was freaking out at this point!!! luckily when i had the ultrasound done the dr showed me the baby moving and the heartbeat.

But they didnt explain why my uterus is too low and why it is measuring more for a 16 week old baby, and not 18 week old.

they already set my due date back 2 weeks at the 12 week scan, so it cant be put back another 2 weeks as i wouldnt have been pregnant 4 weeks beforehand!!

Now Im really worried my baby is not developing as it should be. why is my uterus low? has anyone had a similar experience?

any help or advice would be great!!

Don't have any experience of this I'm afraid but I'm sure someone will. Did they not give you any explanation? Do you have your 20 week scan soon? X

i have my 20 week scan in 2 weeks, but im so worried while im waiting for that. the nurses said they were happy to have me wait until 20 weeks to do full measurements, but i dont think they realise how worrying this is!! i guess i just have to trust their judgement xx
