Lots of sympathy. I am in the same position (30 weeks pregnant) and was finally given antibiotics for a chest infection yesterday (but have been ill for a week). The pharmacist this week has been prepared to give me:
Vicks
olbas oil
A cough syrup that basically seemed to be sugar and glycerin and didn't do much
Paracetamol

So not much, really. Steam inhalation have helped, as have lots of warm baths and homemade honey and lemon drinks (although these are more comforting than medically useful, I think!). We have also been using a steam vapouriser in the bedroom at night, which really does help. We had it anyway, but if you are prepared to buy one it's a really useful thing to have once the baby arrives, and gt my DCs through many a bad cold.

I have stopped dairy for just a few days (as this makes mucous worse in lots of people, but I know you need the calcium in pregnancy too), and am having lots of OJ, and a pyjama day today as DH is at home.

Hope you feel better soon.

Be careful with olbas oil though. It has eucalyptus in, which is advised to keep clear off when pregnant.

I had a horrid cold the last few weeks (around 11-12 weeks) and it's only just going. I found a slice of lemon in hot water with some honey helped. At night I slept with an extra pillow, so I was a bit more upright which helped me breathe better.

And I was told I could take a thyme syrup by the pharmacy, which gave some relief from the coughing.

I hope it goes soon for you, it's horrible.

I found the coughing the worst - rib straining etc - so used manuka honey in lemon and hot water. Seemed to help clear things up quicker than if I didn't take anything but clearly not as effective as the usual over the counter remedies we can't have! Hope you feel better soon!

Me too, the cough is the worst as it is causing stress incontinence (30 wks pg). So undignified! But cold symptoms are really ramping up tonight so might have another night of little sleep. I find the black currant and glycerin stuff the chemist gave me helps for a short time, as do ice lollies. I really want to just sleep it off but lying down makes the cough worse Hmm. Feeling sorry for myself and all fellow sufferers...must remember there is far worse I could be dealing with!

Oh god funchum me too with the stress incontinence. It is so undignified! And I feel like I've pulled muscles down the side of my bump through coughing, so it's now really painful.

I had it at 34weeks.. I'm now 38+3 weeks. And what really helped me was a cup of hot water with honey and raspberry jam!
When I was first told about this mix and I was skeptic. But when I started drinking it, the pressure in my head and nose went away and I don't have the cold now for at least two weeks. Where normally when I get the cold I'm down for at least 4 weeks!

Get well! And you have my sympathy as so close to due date having the cold is not fun at all
