Body odour during pregnancy

Ok this is a weird one, but does anyone think that they smell different during their pregnancy?

I've noticed that my natural smell has changed, I don't smell horrible or anything, just different. My clothes smell different too.

Unless my nose is just very sensitive atm.

I can't really describe the smell it's just not 'me'.

I'm totally with you. I've suffered with HG throughout this pregnancy and a heightened sense of smell has been awful.

In my first trimester I couldn't bear the smell of my body odour yet couldn't bear the smell of soap, deodorant or perfume. TBH I couldn't really bear the smell of anything including DH and am still quite iffy with the smell of washing powder......can just about tolerate non bio but have given up on softener.

I think it's just one of those pregnancy things.

Yes - I definitely had a different smell and it got stronger throughout pregnancy ! It was a musky, sweet smell. My daughter used to say I smelt of those milk bottle chew sweets !

I'm the same as mampam. The smell of myself made me vomit in first trimester. Since about 7 weeks I've noticed my boobs smell too. At the end of the day they smell a bit milky.

Hamsolo · 30/09/2014 08:50

Yep, I was going to say milky too. My DH claimed not to notice, but I felt very self conscious about it. It doesn't seem to have lasted post-partum (and I'm breastfeeding, so was anticipating it being worse). Or my nose isn't as sensitive now...

Roseylee20 · 30/09/2014 09:04

Yes i definately agree. I think for me it's a mix of extremely heightened sense of smell (I can smell a cigarette from a mile off which makes me feel so sick Sad) and generally sweating more? The same as mampam, the smell of me makes me feel so awful but then I'm limited to what I can use! I recently bought an expensive Clarins Deoderant, just for a change, and liked the smell the first day u bought it. Now I can't stand it! So I can't wear it. Every smell is so overpowering, I really hope it subsides for us all soon x

Yes. Like you said, it's not an intrinsically unpleasant or overly strong smell but I still hate it! I take off my clothes and they all reek of this 'not me' weird salty smell. My dp says he can't smell it, so maybe it is just sensitive nose?

Pyjamaramadrama · 30/09/2014 14:57

Glad I'm not just going mad, I can smell it today, I just don't smell my usual self!

I think I smell like milky cereal. Like cheerios. Makes me feel a bit sick Confused

AdorableAbbie · 30/09/2014 16:22

When I was pregnant too, my sense of smell is very sensitive, I smell bad and good odor that my DH don't smell and I keep on asking what is that smell?! And he will reply What smell? haha so I will describe it.
And I also notice that my own smell change not as a bad odor but different when I was not yet pregnant.
You're not alone I think every pregnant women experience it.

Jodie1982 · 30/09/2014 22:54

I'm so glad I'm not the only one! I think I smell like Toffee or something like it, a milky sweet smell, I'm so paranoid about it. My sense of smell is ever so strong now, this is my 5th baby and I've never experienced this before, I don't even like the smell of DP much any more, I use to love his smell. Pregnancy is strange lol.

Jo 20+3.
