Feeling bloated and full-up all the time (19 weeks)

Hi All

I'm nearly 19 weeks and lately just feel so bloated and full-up whenever I eat anything so can only manage small portions (complete opposite from earlier in pregnancy when I was ravenous and ate everything in sight!).

Is it normal to feel so bloated/full-up at this stage?

Thank you

yes unfortunately for some people Sad.
I haven't really had any stage in pregnancy where I have had a huge appetite and I'm 32 weeks now - despite me being a greedy guts pre-pregnancy. I've got used to just eating half of everything as I know how awful I will feel after! I thought I was really hungry the other week and decided to treat myself to some fish and chips - ate less than half of it, but was up all night digesting it! It's been a massive shock how long things take to digest! I reckon as well the sickness I had up to week 16 has shrunk my stomach a bit and it hasn't yet recovered.

I have been trying to make sure though that I get full calorific/ fat value out of what I eat so that I don't under eat - e.g. eating full fat instead of low fat yogurt, not measuring out every teaspoon of oil I cook with, having whole milk in my tea at work etc.

On the plus side - I am hoping the lessons I have learned in this pregnancy to stop eating the moment I start to feel remotely full will carry on post pregnancy as I've never been great at that Blush and I've only put on 10.5 lbs so far which feels right given my height (5.3) and previous BMI of 29.

I'm the same, 20weeks & can feel full just after a glass of juice :-( x

I think that was the worst bit - getting massively dehydrated because even water made me full up! That does seem to have got a bit better thank goodness - I have tried to make sure I prioritise liquid over food on days where I feel most bloated - I'm sure dehydration is the far bigger problem!

yip- ive been the same since 17 weeks too (am cracking on for 21 weeks now)- had pretty much no horrible symptoms in the whole of the first trimester, so i think it's my body's way of rebelling! It's rubbish- I feel like im struggling to breathe after a cuppasoup!!

Thank you, so glad I'm not the only one! Sophie150 - I'm also hoping my stomach has shrunk and will stay like that post-pregnancy as I'm 5ft 3.5ins and BMI 31 and usually eat massive portions! BanglesSpangles - I, too, had no horrible symptoms until now lol. Maybe it's to make up for not getting morning sickness!!
