No fluid around baby - any success stories?

I went to have an emergency scan today with a possible ectopic pregnancy. Midwife thought I was 8 weeks and defiantly no more than 12 weeks. Had my scan and baby was measuring 16 weeks and ruled out the Ectopic straight away as baby had a heart beat and was curled up in the corner. But horrible news finding there was no fluid around the baby ð???
I have been told I can have a miscarriage and they are going to do another scan on Monday and hopefully tell me more.

Has anyone else ever had this happen? If so, did you have a miscarriage or did you manage to have a successful pregnancy and birth? Not really sure what the chances are of survival.

Thanks x

Bumping this for you.
My only experience is when my waters broke at 23 weeks. I had an amino-infusion(where they put water back in). I made it to 29 weeks and my 2lb11oz miracle turned 11 last week.
I don't know if the infusion would be relevant in your case-I know very little about this really-but it can't hurt to ask when you go back. Good luck

Thank you. I am just so heart broken and don't know how to feel ?? this week has just been the hardest. From thinking I was only 8 weeks and being told its a possible ectopic and being sent for an emergency scan to find out I'm a lot further gone with no fluid around the baby ?? just don't feel anything positive is going to happen. The doctor seemed sure I was going to have a miscarriage but tried to make it better by saying I might not Hmm

I will ask if they are able to put fluid in Smile thank you for the advice xx

Ive no advice Im sorry, hoping someone will come along with experience. Just hand-holding. It sounds devastating... though they can do amazing things, like amnio-infusion as mentioned by pp. Real question is whether they'll do it before 23 or 24 weeks when fetus is deemed viable. You may have to fight. Really wishing you luck OP Flowers

Hi shorty, was thinking of you today. Hope your scan went ok and consultants can help, x

Shorty2014 · 29/09/2014 16:28

Thank you! Had my scan this morning ?? think I will be making a complaint to doctors/hospital! They have put me through so much in the last week or so ?? so today's scan - there was fluid around the baby and all fine. The only thing they are not concerned about is their head and tummy measurements as they are not adding up and placenta is enlarged. They are finding it difficult to get an accurate measurement of tummy as the baby is curled up. So in need of another scan in two weeks time! I'm feeling very positive though, my baby can show them how strong they are and will over come any obstacle that gets in the way ?? x

That's such good news shorty!! Made up for you Smile xx

Shorty2014 · 29/09/2014 17:17

Thank you ?? feeling a lot more positive but it is still a 50/50 chance as they are concerned that they may not grow properly and saying they have a big head. I'm just hoping it is the position they are in. Just a waiting game for another 2 weeks now.

Thank you xx

I found out at 28 weeks my ds had very little fluid. I was sent for growth scans as I was measuring small and they picked it up. I was scanned every few weeks and had extra midwife appointments. They finally induced me at 38 weeks as they said he would thrive more outside the womb. He was born weighing 5lb 10, beautiful and healthy. He does suffer now from terrible ezycma.
I hope everything turns out well for you :) xx

Shorty2014 · 29/09/2014 19:41

Awwr glad he is healthy ??

I suffer bad eczema too ?? had it since I was little then cleared a little as I got older but now I have it badly on my hands which isn't nice when I'm dealing with parents and children at work all the time.

I am just hoping that my baby grows nicely now and wriggles out of his hibernation so we can measure him properly. Being stubborn like his mother lol.

Xx

Oh bless you, I'm so pleased this news is more positive. I'm not sure what complaint would do - surely they only told you what they thought was the case? It is torture but I think I'd rather have honesty than have stuff hidden from me in case it righted itself? I had three weeks of torture after a six week scan said the baby was probably not 'viable' and it turned out to be fine at a nine week scan so I feel for you very much. It may be small comfort but at my 16 week scan they told me the baby's tummy was too big and legs too short - both completely normal by 20 weeks. Maybe we look to much now!!

leanne963 · 29/09/2014 20:05

So happy everything is good news shorty i bet that was a relief!

Oh pippin that sounds so stressful, how did you manage!? Hope you have no more surprises during your pregnancy!!

pinkteapots · 29/09/2014 20:41

shorty am so glad! Here's hoping the next scan holds more good news. pippin has a point - maybe we look too closely these days! Scans are great, they save lives and limit illness, but just sometimes they alarm us with apparent, but not real, issues. For those mothers, its a stressful time.

Shorty2014 · 15/10/2014 11:36

Just a quick update if anyone wanted to know. Unfortunately things took a turn for the worst over the last week, I had been leaking fluid which I wasn't 100% sure what it was. Had my scan on Monday, baby had grown but had lost fluid around the baby. I had to stay in hospital Monday night as was 2cm dilated and unfortunate miss carried that night, with our baby boy being born Tuesday. He looked so peaceful and no longer suffering ?? he will be forever in our hearts and not a moment goes by when I don't think about him. Xxx
