Hi,

I'm pregnant with my first child and feeling a little confused and very sick! I've been suffering with morning sickness and now I can seem to shift a headache. Is it safe to take paracetamol after 12 weeks or is it best to go without?

Thanks x

Yes you can. I had really bad headaches in the 1st tri and a few weeks of the 2nd tri. I took paracetamol a few times. My MW said its fine and I have a friend who is a GP, discussed my headaches with her and she said yea paracetamol is absolutely fine and the headaches would be hormone related. I also cut out caffeine almost completely and think my body went cold turkey without it which may have caused my headaches also.

Paracetamol is fine but not ibuprofen/co codamol etc.

I saw my gp this week for headaches. He said paracetamol was fine and also co-codamol was fine. Best to check with gp.

I heard that co codamol could make the baby drowsy although I know people who have been prescribed it in some cases where paracetamol wasn't cutting it.
