Early pregnancy scan after blighted ovum

The dr says they don't have anything to do with pregnancy and the midwife unit say that the EPU will need a referral from the dr as they don't refer!!!
I had a blighted ovum, and it was picked up at my 12 week scan, so then had to have an induced miscarriage, and the lovely midwives at the hospital said that the next time I got pregnant then I should come and have an early scan....... But no one will refer me!!! Help???? Xx

Oh, sorry, I am 4 + 4 at the moment, so I realise they won't scan til at least 6 weeks, I just want it booked in for my own piece of mind.

Hi Swifey - I don't know where you live but in London there are various EPUs and some of them you can self refer, would that be an option? Or a private scan? Is your midwife in your Dr surgery? If so then you could always book an appt with the midwife during Dr hours and explain to her that hte Dr won't refer you and ask if she will support you. Storm into the Dr office with the midwife if necessary.

Thanks Sarah, I am not in London, am actually in Wiltshire. The midwives are in their own unit in a small town, the dr is in another small town, and the hospital in a much larger town, as you can see I live in the middle of nowhere! I think I will call the EPU directly, and if no one will let me have a scan then I will just go privately! I think maybe they think I am bring neurotic, but I don't want to get all the way to 12 weeks and it happens again, it was too horrible, as we had to 'un-tell' lots of people because we had had to tell them on the first place because I showed so early!

IME I've always had to go private I'm afraid OP. Best of luck Smile
