Comments about bump size got me worried

I am 22 weeks. This is my second baby and I know I should know better than to listen but lots of people have been commenting on how small and low down my bump is and often saying I dont look pregnant at all.

I had been worrying a bit myself because the kicks ive been feeling are very very low...what feels like my cervix and even vagina area and sometimes in my bum! I sometimes feel movement just above my pubic bone or just below my belly button but never any higher and most often very low down as mentioned.

My first baby was very big and im sure I was bigger with him at this stage. I had to ring the midwife about something else earlier, so mentioned it and she didnt seem too concerned but you never know...measurements at my 20 week scan were also average.

Has anyone else had very low movement at the stage/and or been affected by people's comments about it?

All movement has been low down for me because the baby has been feet down throughout. I'm 28 weeks and actual kicks are all low down, although for the last two or three weeks there's been higher up squirming movements where baby's torso is. No cause for concern.

If you're measuring ok and your mw isn't concerned I wouldn't worry too much.

Everyone is different, and I think different clothes can make your bump look bigger or smaller. I went to stay with a friend the other week (I'm 30 weeks) and when I got there she commented on how small my bump was. Later on the same day she was telling me it was huge!
If your midwife is happy with your measurements, don't worry and make the most of it before you lose sight of your feet again... :)

At 22 weeks, I think your uterus is only about 2cm above you belly button, so where you're feeling movement sounds exactly right Smile ..I'm 28 weeks and he is head down so I've got lots up by my ribs now but definitely did have lots of low down kicks at your stage! I wouldn't worry! Oh and don't listen to comments, I get the big and small comments all in one day (even though I am measuring big already!)

Hello, I'm 24 weeks and I don't get much movement above my belly button either. I was told at my 20 week scan that my placenta is at the front of my stomach so I'm not going to feel the baby move so much. I do feel big movements occasionally though, but the rest are low down or to the sides.

I wouldn't worry about the comments as long as the baby is moving around. Every pregnancy is different and your body will be different too.

Im 35 weeks and have had the same comments throughout my pregnancy. "Blimey your bump is tiny!" Etc etc. growth scans have shown the baby is completely average size.

I'm tall-ish (5ft8) with a long body, so I think I just hide the bump well. People are amazed when I tell them I'm due in 5 weeks, I just ignore the comments now. Infact, I'm so sick of people commenting in general about different aspects my (very easy and straightforward) pregnancy, I try to avoid the conversations entirely!

My first was a really big baby, and 2 weeks ago when I was 22 weeks I was the same as you. People saying i was really neat and they could hardly tell. Started to worry......
well, move on to 24 weeks and i literally woke up, stretching aches on my side, looked in the mirror and I swear I'm about double the size overnight! I no longer think I am going to have a smaller baby and people are very confident now and asking when I am due.
I also get loads of kicks in the lady bits!

Try not to worry.
Second and subsequent bumps are sometimes smaller - it's to with the muscles having already been stretched. I know I carried ds2 and 3 on my hips and more around my sides not just in my bump - if that makes sense. I had a way bigger bump with ds1 and he was smaller than the other two.
PP have already commented on baby position for where you feel movements.
If you are overly stressing about it then see your midwife - she'll be able to reassure you.
Take care.
