Weird and funny pregnancy cravings

Sorry if this has been done to death but as my morning sickness is slowly starting to relent I am trying to rediscover the joy of eating but only certain food are nausea proof yet.

An amusing one for me is tomato puree (the one in concentrate in a tube), for the past couple of days I've been having white bread tomato puree sandwiches.

During my last pregnancy it was Worcestershire Sauce, on absolutely everything. I had it on pancake on Shrove's Tuesday!

Anybody else want to share their cravings?

Taramasalata is mine could eat it by the bucket load and currently on a pot a day along with the crackers to dip in :)

ohthegoats · 16/09/2014 15:36

I've eaten a LOT of jelly. Loads of it. Pot after pot, right since the beginning too, and now I'm (hopefully) only a week or so from the end. Some days 10 pots of it. What sort of baby, or body even, wants beef gelatin and artificial sugar? Weird.

Topsyloulou · 16/09/2014 17:04

I ate loads of jelly sweets, probably a bag every day for the first trimester.

I crave to smell Johnson's fresh bubble bath I literally have a bottle of it next to my bed and feel like I need to smell it, I'm hoping it goes away when he's born xx

Titsalinabumsquash · 16/09/2014 17:09

I convince myself that I want need everything I see when it comes to food but then when I actually get it my stomach does a flip and I can't bare to actually eat it. Sad

Currently after salt and vinegar crisps though Grin

This time I desperately want to brush my teeth (and chew toothbrushes) and eat a bath sponge that's been in the bath with Radox original. I've managed to hold back from chewing on the sponge but have got through several packs of Basics toothbrushes.

Fissawissa · 16/09/2014 19:10

I'm loving the smell of bleach so freshly cleaned bathrooms smell divine to me at the moment Shock

WillYouDoTheFandango · 16/09/2014 19:26

Mine was salt and vinegar walkers (other brands need not apply) and sour apple jelly sweets.

I bought bags and bags of Asda duper sour snakes because the apple one was awesome.

princesscupcakemummyb · 16/09/2014 21:07

when i was pregnant with my son after getting over months of sickness and food adversions and not being able to eat much at all first thing i craved was pick & mix sweets then it was pringles and cheese not together tho lol ohh i miss all that now so much enjoy it goes far to quick my son is 10 months now

Marshpillow · 16/09/2014 21:20

Instant noodles, I probably have a packet a day, sometimes two packets if DH is out and I can get away with it. Only half the sachet of flavouring though, if its too strong tasting I have to throw it away and start again.

ILiveOnABuildsite · 16/09/2014 21:35

I'm loving hearing about all of these. I wish I craved jelly or pick & mix. Yum!

I've remembered another one from my first pregnancy, just on the brink of frozen orange Capri Sun was another of my fix then. I might get some tomorrow see if it does the trick this time around too.

Royal icing sugar. The ready to roll block. Yum Hmm

Aciderwouldbenice · 16/09/2014 21:45

Fab lollies, I am eating them all day and panic if less than 2 boxes on fridge. Not strange really but everyone laughs at me when I mention it

Bangonthedoor · 16/09/2014 22:12

parallax the toothbrush and sponge one is so funny!

This time round I've been craving birthday cake...properly iced with fondant icing and butter cream. I actually order one in my Tescos delivery, it was huge and had balloons on Grin DP's face was Shock

daholster · 16/09/2014 23:10

Sundried tomatoes (YUM!), Bovril, pickles... Last pregnancy dh caught me drinking the vinegar from the jar and told me off Blush Under strict instructions not to do that this time...

WaffleWiffle · 16/09/2014 23:23

Ice.

This is my third pregnancy with the same ice craving. 3kg per day (a bag and a half of the bought stuff).

Supposed to be a sign of anaemia, but bloods all normal.

I love the clean, fresh feeling ice gives. Plus i have always been pregnant through summer so good way to keep cool.

Bobbi1234 · 20/09/2014 08:58

Barmcake with salt and vinegar on it yum i cant get enough of them ...... I also love the smell of canned dog food it smells so good x

Jodie1982 · 20/09/2014 12:59

Most definitely ICE! This is my 5th pregnancy 19wks and I can feel the usual cravings creeping in. With my 4 previous pregnancies I would eat it all day in a pint glass, even in bed! But it has to be a particular brand called Party Ice, the crunch is just AMAZING! Lol

prettywhiteguitar · 20/09/2014 13:32

Ice
Dog food
Vinegar !! You lot are weirdos !!

I'm treating myself to different types of milk, started just with cows but now I'm getting all different types, almond, jersey I'm a bit obsessed...just thinking about it now all cold and creamy.

RetroHippy · 20/09/2014 22:26

I'm 22 weeks and still no cravings Sad I was looking forward to it, is it too late now?

I just get the see-food craving; I see food and I want it! But nothing consistent or weird. I know someone who ate cement.

excitedforbaba · 21/09/2014 01:22

The sponge one for me too! But it has to be dry! I love the sound of tearing a little piece off! and occasionally popping a little piece in my mouth for a second

The smells of cleaning products, washing powder, fairy liquid disinfectant! House has never been so clean Smile

Only normal craving is for ice cubes! I love crunching them! Just not good for my teeth Confused

Burmama · 21/09/2014 03:13

Tinned kippers. Used to think it was a bit weird but now in light of the sponge, vinegar and cement (wtfff) revelations it seems positively banal.

Bobbi1234 · 21/09/2014 16:20

Ewww kippers (i can hardly talk i would eat the dog food if i could) i have plenty of food aversions more than cravings like coffee i used to drink 5 cups a day pre pregnancy and now just one makes me be sick also i cant stand the smell of veg cooking witch stops me from eating it unless i go out to eat or someone else makes it for me xx.

Bangonthedoor · 21/09/2014 21:33

These are so sick! GrinThe dog food one made me gag! The smell of it would make me vomit!

JustMarriedBecca · 21/09/2014 23:07

Oranges, lemons, pineapple and mango. Apple Juice. The smell of Jo Malone pomegranate noir (also fruity) and mint shower gel/hand wash. To the point of keeping some in my bag to sniff.

I cannot even be in the same room as fish and brocolli makes me gag. Have also lost all taste for spicy food. I used to eat tonnes of ginger but I've not been able to touch it in pregnancy without vomiting.
