Hi I got pregnant straight away after an early miscarriage at 7 weeks. I didn't expect it at all and it came as a complete shock! . I went for an early scan at 8 weeks which confirmed it, I am now 34 weeks pregnant!

soph123kay · 07/09/2014 21:53

will my doctor send me for an early scan bein as tho I had an early miscarriage, im doubting the pregnancy tests as its so soon I feel like the dr will laugh at me and say come back when its been a couple more weeks. xx

It's happened to me after two of my early miscarriages (I've had three) both pregnancies went on to be successful and are 3 and 1 yrs old. So it's totally possible congratulations :)

I'm not sure, I guess it depends on your doctor, I went and explained what had happened with the early mc and that I was worried because I didn't know whether it was a new pregnancy or whether it was still the previous one and that not everything had cleared properly. He said that as I had tested negative a few times after the first time, and was then testing positive that it was likely to be a new pregnancy but suggested a scan to reassure me as I was quite worried. I didn't do the positive test until about two weeks after the negative test so I may have been slightly further along than you are now when I went for the early scan x

its worth talking to dr about isn't it all he can say is no. thankyou for your advice its been a pretty shitty week my dog died Friday aswell so ive been upset over that and putting my self through stress silly I know. my dr was really gd when I had mc last so u never know. my dp has banned me from anything that's not gd for me lol. I just hope that it dosent happen again

Ahh really sorry to hear you've had a bad time of things this week, It sounds like a good idea to chat to your doctor especially if he is supportive and was good when you had the mc. I found it difficult after having the mc but seeing the doctor and going for the early scan really helped things as we were able to see the heartbeat which was really reassuring. Let me know how you get on and good luck :)

soph123kay · 07/09/2014 22:31

Definitely go and see your gp he will probably send you for blood tests to see if your hormone levels are rising you will have one set done then go back for another 48 hrs later. Sorry to hear about your dog :( good luck have everything crossed for you.

Happened to me too. We tried for over a year for DC2 and nothing. Finally fell pregnant and quickly miscarried at 6 weeks which was heartbreaking. But I was so convinced that it would take another year to get pregnant again we just carried on trying straight away and lo and behold I was pregnant again the very next month.

I have to confess, my first reaction to my BFP was to cry (not in a good way) because I was absolutely convinced I would miscarry again but I didn't. Those first 12 weeks until I had my scan were pretty anxious and I only properly relaxed when I could feel the baby moving but I had a good pregnancy. DD has just turned 2 now Smile

Congratulations!

My dd2 was conceived straight after an early mc, it's unlikely a doctor will do anything or an early scan but did you go to an epu? They may well if you say your not sure if it's a new pregnancy? If you've had negative tests before though it's very likely it is congratulations

AnnaKissed · 08/09/2014 17:47

This happened to me too. I actually found out I was pregnant again at the post mc scan to check everything had passed properly. They weren't sure what was going on for a while, so I had HCG blood tests every 48hrs. Could be another option to ask the GP about? Your levels need to be doubling in 48hrs roughly. You'll need a scan to date the pregnancy if you have no LMP to go by, but I don't know how the NHS works there. I had one at 9 weeks, but I wasn't in the UK.

There is evidence that conceiving soon after a mc (six months or less) actually lowers your chances of mcing again. I'm 21 weeks now with a healthy pregnancy.

Good luck Smile

done another pg test today and was positive couldn't get into the drs today though. I would rather avoid the blood tests if I can im not a fan of needles lol.

No need for tests unless you're worried! Feel free to join the posifrickentivity post MC pregnancy thread for support! :)

squizita · 08/09/2014 18:58

Oh and be wary of dp forcing you to be "healthy". As you know almost all mcs are random events and nothing to do with healthy/unhealthy things. Fixating on that can make for a lot of stress over the 9 months!! It's also not great for the relationship for him to put that on you, even though he means well. Just stick to the nhs advice! :)

soph123kay · 08/09/2014 19:28

I never listen to him anyway! obviously I wont go out drinking and smoking lol. I am worried as I got my hopes up last time but I got a gd feeling this time round last time it was like I was waiting for something to happen in a way I was overly anxious. thanks for all your advice x

Hi Op

I mc late March 2013 and found out I was pregnant again 6th May. DD was born NYE 2013 and has just turned 8 months. It's very much possible, congratulations. Thanks

kitkat321 · 08/09/2014 21:09

It happened to me but unfortunately I did miscarry again with the second pregnancy. My MW advised that perhaps it was too soon and my body wasn't ready for it. I decided it was best to wait a few months and fell pregnant again 3 months later and this one has stuck.

I have heard plenty of positive stories though about people falling pregnant immediately after a miscarriage so fingers crossed this is what happens to you! x
