How long did it take for your scan letter to arrive?

I seen my midwife at 6weeks I am now 10weeks and not had an appointment through the post! Just wondering how long it took for your letter to come for your first scan.

Did the midwife book the appointment for the scan while u was there? I was waiting for a letter to come through but heard nothing rang midwife and she said they dont send one. Had my 12 week scan on friday just turned up at the hospital with my notes and was fine didn't ask for a letter!

Not sure where you are but location seems to make a big difference. With DD1, the midwife registered me for scan at booking appointment and I got the letter confirming date and time afterwards. We moved earlier this year and now with DC2, we 'self refer' and fill out a form to the local hospital to get a scan date. I got mine a week after sending off, haven't even had my booking in appointment yet coz GP is slowwww Hmm

I didn't receive mine because someone had input my address incorrectly at the hospital. Just give them a call to chase up.

I'm also interested to hear peoples experiences with this. I called my community midwife when I had my BFP (5weeks) and was told I would get an initial midwife meeting and scan date in the post...3 weeks later I've still had nothing Sad I have called to ask for an update and was told I would get my letter shortly but that was over a week ago.

It's so annoying, this won't seem real to me until I've been for my first appointment!

I was about 10 weeks. I was really worried too but I managed to cheat a bit because as I was being discharged from a hospital admission (at 9+5) I asked the ward sister about it and she got on the phone to my midwife. Letter arrived in the next few days. Scan is at 12+3.

Squidge14 · 08/09/2014 12:44

It's good to know it's not just me then! It is worrying not hearing anything, this is my first pg so all very new, and I feel like they've forgotten about me!!

Def. give them a call. I did get a letter from the hospital but I was a bit worried when my (much later) midwives appointment came through much earlier than my scan letter.

As it happens it was all in hand anyway and I just had to wait a few more days (was seen at just over 12 weeks in the end so no drama) but the hospital were more than happy to confirm on the telephone that a letter would be coming out and an appointment was being assigned to me. - Call for your peace of mind.

Ages. I saw my Dr at 8w and recd scan appt letter at 11w for scan at 13w5 then they moved it!

Was so worried about missing 14w cutoff for NT scan & bloods went private and then NHS rearranged so had it in time, but now 18w & still haven't seen results from NHS.

Have now got same run around on anomaly scan!

skyra13 · 10/09/2014 16:58

Im hoping that my appointment will be before 14w im currently 10+4 at the moment! But they don't seem to rush!

I was at hospital for a scan yesterday, receptionist was on phone, telling a patient that if she wanted a nuchal translucency test then it was mandatory for the hospital to offer them an appointment within the 12-14 week timeframe. I'm in Scotland so not sure that's true for everywhere but it might be worth calling and asking.

Roseylee20 · 10/09/2014 17:46

Hi Squidge14, had my first widwife app today and was told i souls receive the letter in a couple of weeks times. I suppose it's different for everybody. I hope we can all have a scan for around 12 weeks rather than 14 weeks! I didn't realise it was between 12 and 14 weeks! A lady I know had her scan booked for her when she was 13 and a half weeks! That seems like ages away! Best wishes to all x
