I'm shocked! I didn't think this happened until later on down the line. Shock

I could understand it if I had a heavy baby weighing down on the major blood vessels in my pelvis, but at 15 weeks!? (Admittedly with twins)

What I'd like to know is what is the eatiology for this so early in pregnancy? All I can find on the web is 'carrying a bit of extra water' which is a bit wishy washy and doesn't actually tell me anything. Can anyone enlighten me?

Your body just holds onto more fluid when your pregnant, probably even more do with twins.

I've had them to varying degrees since about 15 weeks (esp when it was very hot). Mine are exacerbated by having a job where I'm seated for long periods.

Elevate them when you can, try to stay active and minimise time seated/standing, drink a shitload of water.

Only cause for concern is if your hands or face also swell suddenly. Although speak to your midwife if they aren't going down overnight or after being elevated for a while.

Have you had your BP checked lately? I think its quite unusual to swell up that early. I had pitting oedema up to my thighs with DC1 but that didn't kick in until after 20 weeks
