You can get the Harmony Test (a blood test) done at 10 weeks and the results come back by 12 weeks (it is actually a Downs Syndrome test, but they are able to find out the sex as well as it works by extracting your baby's DNA which apparently floats around in your own blood stream). It's not 100% reliable but I'm not sure whether this means it might come back with no result rather than a false result iykwim.

I had it done at the Fetal Medicine Centre on Harley Street. Prices vary quite a lot so it's worth shopping around. Btw, they did my nuchal scan at the same time as giving me the blood test results and they could clearly see the baby's sex on the scan as well. I doubt they would have told me at 12 weeks though if they hadn't had the Harmony Test results to back it up (I get the impression that they have a policy to not reveal the sex until around 16 weeks as they can still get it wrong at 12 weeks in some cases).

Thanks, to get this harmony test, any prescriptions are required or anyone can pay and get the same done.

What else? Some people want to abort their babies if they don't want the gender they are having - usually girls I understand. It's quite well documented.

Correct but I suppose this is not the scenario in most cases. Anyways Thanks for the reply!!!

Sweetpea the blood test one was in the news (bbc news had a big report on it) a few weeks ago (maybe a couple of months - preggy brain is getting to me). It does not work and was being announced as a con. Babies DNA is not in your own blood - it does not cross the placenta. The downs test is looking at something else in your blood not babys actual DNA.

Ultimately op 16weeks isnt that long away and at least its actually truely tried and tested pretty accurate method.
