Kingston or Chelsea & Westminster

Hello all!, first post here. I am only seven weeks with my first child. Terrible morning sickness and tiredness but my actual question is: Kingston or Chelsea & Westminster hospital? My doctor needs to do a midwife referral and my husband and I are unsure. I have looked at the other posts on here regarding this but still can't seem to make a decision.

We had an early pregnancy scan at Kingston Hospital and they were amazing and very quick so we were leaning towards them. Any comments or opinion would be much appreciated. Thank you so much in advance.

Hi I had DS at Kingston just over 2 years ago, antenatal care not great, but they were good when I was in labour and ended up having an emergency csection.

Not going back there with this baby as I've moved and now at st George's in tooting there antental care has been better, no experience of Chelsea & Westminster x

Aren't they one each side of the Thames?

Pick the one that is the same side as you live.

There really isn't much to choose between the big London hospitals, s the ke thing is how reliably you can make the journey, day/night/rush hour/bridge closures.

I live in Putney and they are the closest hospitals. Being either side of the river is fine, Putney bride will only be closed until October. They are about equal distance of my home. Funnily enough. St George's in Tooting was another option but my husband was hospitalised there not long ago and I ruled it out due to the bad memory and some other things. Possibly a mistake.

I had DD at Kingston, no complaints, my midwife was amazing.

I would say take lots of snacks, I didn't get fed much! But was out 24 hours later do I survived. Good luck!

Agree with aunti Stella. Think about what will be easier to get to in the middle of the night and in rush hour traffic. If you live in Putney, that's got to be a consideration as traffic is always a nightmare. Chelsea might be closer but does mean potentially a lot of traffic, especially if football on.

Also check public transport. We changed from c&w as it was two buses from our house and terrible for getting back to work in the city. It's not near a useful tube station. New hospital is not much closer, but only one regular quick bus away.

I liked c&w I admit, and would have stayed if it was more convenient. But I've not had the baby yet so can only comment on some elements. I've had major surgery there and the care and nursing was excellent.
