Tiny amount of spotting at 18 weeks

Hi guys,

I've had what I think is a tiny amount of something today when I went to the loo. The first time I noticed a tiny dot of a yellow/browny spot, then a tiny pink one. It was so faint I had to look at it in the light, and even then I can't be totally sure it wasn't from the loo paper itself (cheap recycled loo roll at work). However I'm now panicking, but it's also Friday night so I cant call anyone really. I've Also had several episodes of spotting in this pregnancy but nothing since ten weeks.

How worried should I be?

I don't know but didn't want to read and run I'm 21 weeks myself x

Call/text your MW if you are worried. Alternatively get yourself to A&E if you are really really worried or if you get any bright red spotting.

If it helps baby will be fine. I had a huge bleed at 29 weeks with contractions and I bled for 10 weeks after that. DD was born at 39 +5 at a healthy 8lb. No complications.

Hi

I had spotting at 18 wks too just after my GTT I called the ante natal unit and they told me to rest and keep an eye on it for 24 hrs. If there was anymore or if I was in any doubt, I was to go in and see someone in maternity assessment. So what I'm trying to say is, call your care providers and see what they say, they are there to look after you xxxxx

As others said, call if you're worried as they'll put your mind at ease, but I've had the exact same from 18 weeks or so. I had spotting throughout, but then it kind of went brown/REALLY faint brown. Now at 33 weeks, still having it but my doctor isn't worried and baby is currently kicking me in the ribs so doesn't seem worried either!

I've just had a pretty big bleed at 16 weeks (think the first rush of a heavyish period). 111 sent me to A & E where, as the bleeding had eased up, they booked me in for a scan the following morning.

Everything was fine, it was a haemorrhage which bled a couple more times over the next two days then tailed off to a brown discharge. Baby was wriggling away and looking perfect.

Dr Google's opinion seems to be that bleeds in the second trimester are mostly fine, with the cervix or uterine haemorrhage being the usual culprit, or with no explanation or effect on the pregnancy. Hopefully it's nothing, but if in doubt get it checked. Everyone at the hospital was utterly lovely and never made me feel like I was making a fuss. the 111 doctor pressing me for exactly how many tablespoons of blood I'd leaked all over the bed and into the loo was less helpful

Thanks all- I called the maternity assessment unit last night and they said it sounded fine but to call back if anything else developed. Fingers crossed so far nothing has, so hopefully it's nothing. It really was two or three pin pricks of pinky yellow so Maybe this sort of thing happens sometimes. X
