My midwife has offered a sweep next week at my appointment when I'll be 39+5 weeks. I'm undecided whether it's worth it or I should just hang off to see what baby decides to do. As much as I'd like junior to make an appearance soon, I'm in no major discomfort and have had an easy time pregnancy-wise. Is it likely to start labour soon after?

Not really but theres evidence it can help 'speed things up' so you don't go the full 2 weeks over. I had one with DD1 and she arrived 5 days after but my cervix was 'favourable' meaning I was already sort of starting to move things along on my own. There are many factors that make it work or not but if your cervix hasn't begin to start itself I think it has less of a chance of working though don't quote me on that.
