Cerazette and pregnant?

Haven't posted on this site for years, kids all grown up ....

Been on cerazette for a few years and had a good experience with it, no periods, yay! But then partner decided to stop with the sex thing, I ran out of pills, didn't bother for six months or so. But the periods I got were super heavy, 21-22 day cycle, made life hell, and then partner seemed a bit fruitier again, so I got a new prescription and took the first pill last Friday when I started bleeding again. Amazingly we had sex on the Saturday night, no condom as family planning nurse said taking cerazette on first day of period offered immediate protection.

I was still bleeding a little on Sunday but since then period has all but stopped, mild spotting if that.

Now slightly panicking that it wasn't actually the start of my period but some heavy spotting (though the timing was right and I don't normally spot in between, only at the end) and I am pregnant after having sex for the first time in about a year! Would be a bit of a disaster as I'm 43, kids 16 and 20 and partner (not their dad) has never wanted kids ...

Stomach feels slightly achy and cramps and I'm sure my boobs are tingly too ...

Going to do a test today, though I know it's very early. Just wondered if anyone else had had a similar thing happen ... Perhaps the cerazette could have stopped my period?

cerazette always stopped my periods so it could be that rather than pregnancy

Would it actually stolen every first one though? That's what I'm struggling to work out. Surely if you started a period there's got to be blood etc that has to come out ....

In fact, let's try that again (damned ipad autocorrect!)

If you only had sex last Saturday it will be too early to test yet won't it?

I don't know .... The last time I did a pregnancy test was in 1997!

you wouldnt get a proper result on a pregnancy test until your next period was due so it is far too early.

Hormones can do all sorts of things to your periods e.g. some can be used to delay a period by taking in the days before it is due

Well I did a test today and it was negative, (phew) but will do another one in a week or so just to make sure. My periods shve always been a bit random but by my reckoning I should have started properly by now ... Can't quite believe that taking cerazette on the first day would reduce that period to virtually nothing because surely (TMI) the womb would have been ready to shed it's lining anyway ...
