14 weeks - should I still feel like this?

I'm 14 weeks today and had to come home from work this morning as I was feeling so rubbish. It's the first time I've taken any sick leave due to preg related symptoms and I just think I should feel better by now!

We were away at the weekend visiting an elderly relative so didn't really get any down time this weekend or crucial afternoon naps! This morning my limbs were all heavy and achey and I was sick at work at 10.30. Came home and just went straight to bed. I should be logging on this afternoon to so some work from home but all I want to do is lie in my bed. Got no energy to move.

Shouldn't I be feeling better by now? Do I need to just pull myself together and get on with it?!

I am also 14 weeks and also feel crap!! Was vomiting this morning before work and felt like being sick all blady day! I think Mondays are worse as I am knackered after the weekend.

Holding thumbs this all goes very soon! ????

Oh you poor thing! Everyone is different - I'm now 20 weeks and still feel crappy most days and need frequent naps although I was much worse between 13 to 18 weeks.

I've taken to working from home now and again as tiredness makes it worse.

Listen to your body - I've tried to fight it and made myself worse. Just sleep if you need to and hopefully you'll feel better soon xxx

I felt too crap to function until about 16 weeks. Then I had about 12 weeks where I felt okayish - though my nausea never went. Then at 28 weeks I felt horrific again. Sometimes being pregnant is just HORRID.

I think it's all tiredness related. I definitely felt more dick when I was tired ( for me it was Friday) I can remember going to bed at 5.30pm / 6pm for weeks and sleeping until 7am following morning.
I felt better about 15 weeks. Have you tried those acupressure (travel sickness) bands they worked wonders on me.

MissSmiley · 21/07/2014 14:50

More sick not more dick which is definitely not what you want if you feel ill. :-)

I'm still waiting for the 2nd trimester glow - food rarely stays in my stomach - I feel tired all the time, yet my colleague just tells me to stop moaning!

Missingcaffeine · 21/07/2014 22:52

I felt shocking until 9 weeks, awful until about 18 weeks, slowly improved 18-24, and only really started 'blooming' and not hating the experience of being pregnant from 24 weeks onwards. I'm 31 weeks, and to be honest, I feel better now than I did even at 24 weeks and since baby is moving, I have started enjoying being pregnant at times and I have more energy now than at 24 weeks and have split seconds when I even forget I am pregnant (this was not the case in first 20 weeks!).
Eat well and take your vitamins - as anaemia or even borderline anaemia can make you feel worse. I was told my bloods were fine, but my haemoglobin had dropped from my usual 14.5 to 11.5 and I felt exhausted. Don't overdo it either, like if you have a day you feel good, don't go crazy, cos you'll suffer for it after. You are making a new human being which takes up so much of your energy and resources. I hope you feel better soon. It can be so miserable. I was so depressed about feeling awful and gutted the second trimester bloom didn't arrive at 14 weeks like the books say!

I'm a lot like missingcaffeine - my low point was 17 weeks but I'd say I started enjoying things after about 22 weeks. On maternity leave now at 35 weeks and still feeling good. Everyone's different though so give yourself as much time and rest as you need.

Thanks for the replies everyone, that's made me feel much better. Trying to will myself out of bed for work today but I really don't want to go!

I think every pregnancy is different and you just need to take it slowly and rest as you need to.

I am 23 weeks pregnant now and it is only in the last week that my energy levels have increased and I have stopped being sick. I was much worse between weeks 12-20 than I was before unfortunately and had to take some time off work/go on anti sickness meds to help. I find being tired makes things much worse.

Peaceloveandbiscuits · 22/07/2014 12:18

Sorry you're still feeling crap :( when I was six weeks my mum kept telling me I'd feel better at sixteen weeks. "But that's TEN weeks away!!"
As it happened I stopped feeling nauseous at about ten-twelve, but at seventeen I'm still shattered and being randomly sick. Everyone really is different, and the heat really doesn't help matters. Take it easy and get lots of sleep when you can. It a WILL get better eventually.

summerdreams · 22/07/2014 18:29

i didn't start getting much energy untill around week 27 but still feel drained most people say around some time in there 2nd trimester usually the early side but everyones different just get as much rest as possible you could start glowing next week, sickness stop and feel great remember your still in the early days your pregnancy could be brilliant Smile good luck and take it easy
