Playing music to bump

I've been playing music to my bump and he/she has been kicking loads in response. Just wondering if this is a good or bad thing - does it mean baby is distressed by the music or just having a bit of a boogie?!

It's a good thing - means that he/she is aware of what's going on outside :) You can try singing/talking to him/her as well to get used to your voice (I feel a bit daft doing that to be honest!)

Yeah they can hear! I read in my pregnancy book the Dr who wrote it used to listen to Jazz and when she had her twins, they loved jazz as babies - so it isn't that they don't like it, it's them responding to a new sensation.

My bump is a right little party animal, never mind classical she likes Garage, Indie/Rock and HipHop! Grin

Ah how lovely! I know, I'm feeling a little guilty that I haven't cracked out the Mozart yet!

Squiz, I took bump to see jurassic 5 and it loved it!

No Mozart here either - although the bump and I were having a bit of a bounce to House of Pain yesterday.

Amazing - perfect for a jumping baby!

Not quite the same but I mowed the grass a lot while heavily pregnant and the noise of the mower has always sent the baby straight to sleep. I wonder if it's a memory of being rocked while I was mowing.

I play my bump lullaby tunes at bedtime because I read it can calm them down, she wriggles a bit but usually settles down. I want her to get used to it so that when she is born I can use it to soothe and calm her when she's upset.

I played a mixture of classical, rock and eighties darkside. Aged 3, she still likes a blast of Marilyn Manson (radio edit of course).

My hub reads to bump. Started the bedtime stories. I love it

I play piano and the uke - small seems to like both of them, wiggles about a bit, particularly to some silly piano tunes and scales. I tend to think it's it liking the music.

I notice loud sounds can wake my baby up suddenly! He started kicking one night when there was thunder, and other sudden loud noises seem to make him jump! He was kicking at the applause on Wimbledon when I watched the final on Sunday. Haven't worked out what music he likes yet.

My boy, nearly 4 now, used to have a right old boogie when I was at orchestra rehearsals and he was still a bump. Particularly liked the bethoven we were rehearsing, which I found really rather dull! Sadly never really likes me playing now, mainly because he'd rather have a go, and then can't really do it!
