I am at a hold here. I was due two days ago. I have been in early stages of labour since 3 this morning. Will the baby be here soon or will it die? At my last ultrasound the lady said my baby will be arriving on 3rd july. I think by monday I will be still pregnant.

I have been really ill all day. I last vomited at 8:30pm. Is that a good sign or bad?

That can all be normal. Have you spoken to your labour ward/midwife?
Try having a nice warm bath for a bit to see if it helps. Best of luck.

Early labour can last a while

If you are worried call your MW

How close are your contractions? Have your waters gone?

Pooka · 05/07/2014 21:22

Is this your first?

It's really really common for the early latent system of labour to last dome time. If I recall correctly, with dd I was niggling and having sporadic quite sore tightenings for about 24 hours before finally reached 3/4cm. She was born 7.5 hours after waters broke during a sweep when I was 3cm (on due date).

If your waters haven't ruptured then there isn't really a stopclock going at this point I.e. Only a few days over.

With subsequent babies, they came 1 week over due, 3hrs from painful vontractions, born in up ruptured amniotic sac (dc2) and approx. 40mins from first contraction and waters breaking (dc3).

Have you had contact with midwife? Is there a particular reason you are concerned about the baby?

The best thing yo do in the latent phase is rest and relax. Laughter is good - watch something funny. Try concentrating on anything other than early contractions. I made mistake with first of thinking all systems Ho from first pains when would have been better served resting, watching a film, pottering around the sitting room rather than cooling heels in hospital.

Remember a due date is a very rough approx of when a baby will arrive - anything between 37 - 42 weeks is normal. If you're in early labour now you might have your baby tonight , it could very well be Monday.

Have you got a reason to think the baby might be in trouble? Have you spoken to a midwife?

Iggly · 05/07/2014 21:29

Have you spoken yo the MW? Give them a ring.

How are you feeling this morning OP?

MostlyMama · 06/07/2014 07:34

Why do you think baby will die?

loveheart45 · 06/07/2014 13:32

Thanks guys. Lovely baby girl delivered at home last night at 11:53 pm. Her name is Isabella. She was 9lbs when she was born. Thank you so much for your information because I had a beautiful and pleasant natural birth.
